Announcing a Raiding Guild level 60+

Postby Ravnmoon » Tue Jan 18, 2005 2:33 am

Coming Soon

Hail & well met Nameless raiders! A new guild has begun construction for raiding. The proposed name of the new guild is ...<Defenders of Destiny> the name of coarse subject to server name approval. The release date of this new raiding guild is slated for February 1st of 2005. The guild raiding schedule as intended will be the following pacific standard times

Monday: 6pm - 10pm
Wednesday: 6pm -10pm
Sunday: 6pm -10pm

The raiding schedule for starters is abit light for a raiding guild but as the guild grows we fully intend to raid up to 5 nights per week. Also like to mention that we will focus Primarily on Planes of Power content and progression only at this time & progress thru tiers 1-5 & move into Gates & then Omens. The pace of the progression will greatly depend upon the skill level of the players that apply. Because of this we will be working with players who are active on a daily basis that are at the minimum of level 60 & approx 50aa, (level 65+ with 100+ aa is recommended.)

The guild website is Currently under construction & should be up around launch. If your interested in this part of the game & want to get involved in a great guild that raids on a regular basis & have some fun & meet some new people ( or if you have any questions ) you can send an email to Ravnmoon3d@comcast.net or simply reply with your magelo profile link.

No offense hun.. but with the amount of peeps leaving EQ, and the struggles the higher end guilds have atm with getting the right classes, its not the best time to start a raiding guild... you gots a lot of competition.

But GL to you.

thx for the reply Ibecleric, I can certainly see your point on having to vie for new recruits but I have a firm belief that a new fresh guild if done proper and correctly can bring about a reason and a purpose for some recent departures from the game to come back. Also like to mention the guild was submitted as <Destiny of Heroes> due to the prior name being denied.

Some other things I forgot to mention in my prior post, the first 10 tags that are ever given will be full membership, everyone else will have to use our recruitment channel Heroes:app. The recruits will be posting applications on our message board, the address will be given in the recruitment channel as soon as the guild is created. We will only be tagging mains who play on a regular basis & have high raid attendance. The Recruits will undergo a 14 day raiding trial prior to ever recieving a guild tag. Once Tagged the member will have a 30 day probation in which their raid attendance, attitude & skill will be closely watched. As I mentioned before all loot will be handled by a NBG ( need before greed) basis and more specifically the following. Full members will have priority to link their current gear they are attempting to upgrade with gear that has dropped, if they pass the probations are then given priority & finally if the item is rotting the applicants. Those with the highest raid attendance will likely be selected as officers but more on that later. Drama Queens, Beggers, & Poor Quality people will not be tolerated.

Just a bit more to ponder & more on this on the official board once the guild is created, I'm under the impression the guild can take 2-3 weeks to be approved by SOE Online Entertainment, but I assure you I'm harassing them with petitions on a daily basis.

You can keep NBG. IMHO DKP is the only way to go, to distribute loot. Otherwise all kinds of personal factors come into play and possible perceptions of elitism and favouritism could occur.

DKP for Mains only is fine. Most high end loot is no drop anyway. Those who play and raid more often get a better chance at loot. I've never understood the logic behind NBG as a "Policy". Helping Guildies out voluntarily is a good thing but NGB as a rule? Not for me, sorry. :umno:

NBG can work.. but there are alot of All All items in the high end of the game.. which helps all classes equally that will be a prob heh

yeah i kind of chuckled at how that doesn't work when you have a 70 person raid going on. DKP is the only way to do it.

Can't say i disagree with the DKP issue but for several reasons I feel NBG looting is a must. I guess the main concern about this is basically this... lets say you got 2 level 65 enchanters & a really great robe drops that they can use... enchanter A has a robe that is just slightly below the current drop & enchanter B would be a huge upgrade for. In a DKP situation the guild basically would be forced to hand over the slight upgrade if Enchanter A has raided more and wants it... and his old current robe ends up being banked forever while Enchanter B is forced to continue to raid night after night hoping the robe drops again if he ever has a chance to win the item & only if he has the greatest amount of DKP to spend on the item will he ever get a shot....

The same situation with a NBG system allows that enchanter a great opportunity to get the huge upgrades & work even harder to get all of his guildies their huge upgrades as well so that guild melds together as a whole strength wise... thus pushing the guilds overall potential high enough to kill that next big God blocking the road to Time and higher. Raiding more doesn't necessarily mean you will loot more it basically means you will see more gear going to people in need & that's what makes the Biggest difference... It doesn't matter if you got 10 all powerful players whom play every night with all the best gear in the game and the other 30-50 have pre-luclin junk which might be dis-empowering to the entire guildraid

Obviously the enchanter with the lower-quality robe and a lesser amount of DKP doesn't deserve it in the first place because he doesn't play as much as the other one who obviously attends more raids and has a better enchanter. Distributing a piece of extremely valuable equipment to someone just because it's a better upgrade, even considering they don't play as much as the other enchanter and is a lesser asset to your guild, is a bad idea.

DKP was invented for a reason... the logic of NBG as a policy is flawed. Better loot is going to go to worse players and that is stupid.

I've never seen a decent guild work with NBG. And if the "big badass enchanter" buys that robe, he's going to be out of points which rules him out for a while until he builds back up. It's really the only way to go and all NBG will do for your guild is cause drama.

yeah lol and valorguard fucking sucked at it. they gave a sarnak battleshield to a warrior because they said he really needed the resists when there were all these shamans, paladins, shadowknights, etc that would've actually used it all the time. so i said something about that and pisa was a faggot and voted me out of the guild

LOOK HOW GOOD NBG IS HAHAHA LET'S GIVE THIS REALLY DOPE SHIELD TOA WARRIOR THAT'S TOTALLY THE BEST CLASS A SHIELD COULD GO TO

Some have done it well (has't Sapientia always been a "voted on by officers who gets the loot" guild? I don't see them hurting much.

The problem I see is that at the 60's raiding level (pre Tier 2 pop) lots of things are not no drop, lots of things are not as good as someone could buy in the bazaar, and lots of things no one will want to bid on or even loot in a nbg. It happens. Like Drem said: Giving it to the one who it's an upgrade for when they havn't even invested the time/effort to obtain something from the bazaar that is equivalent or better seems a bit pointless. That "much needed" upgrade could be replaced within a few days if they go shopping.

Once you get into content with better drops/more no drops that are worth getting, NBG can work, but you have to keep a tight reign on what you give to who. Using a "committee" to decide what an upgrade is can help alleviate any favoritism complaints, but also whether something is an upgrade is very subjective. People CAN and WILL get their feelings hurt, and in today's age of in it for themselves gamers, you WILL lose some people do to hurt feelings over loot (it's just the way people are today).

DKP though not perfect, is at least perfectly fair. You get out what you put in.

TFS used a point/officer system. Though they claimed to not use points, they did.

It was a ratio system, very similar to points however.

approved at last

Postby Ravnmoon » Wed Jan 26, 2005 7:43 pm

Destiny of Heroes was approved last night 1/25/05 & i'll have the message board linked up to here as soon as possible. All of the information you guys have posted really has been great things to ponder especially the loot. I suppose people who prefer Dragon Kill Point guilds would probably not want to try our guild but in any good guild alot of loot will drop each night & hopefully all of the members who needs upgrades will have a legitimate shot if they are the most needy. talk to you all later & enjoy your night. As I mentioned in a prior post the guild first 10 will be full members & everyone following will be applicants using channel Heroes:app for a trial time of approx 14 days... see you all in game happy hunting

Nuff said. I can't count high enough to adequately describe how fucking pissed people in that guild used to get over loot distribution and the fact that a large number of the players *conveniently* showed up only for raids that dropped gear they wanted... Then of course screamed bloody murder when the item dropped about NBG.

TFS uses a system that tracks loot/attendance/ and points, we do not use NBG/Astrology whatsoever.

however i'm not too familiar with the avatars or emoticons or posting html signitures in posts, if anyone can assist me with that it would be much appreciated. Have a good one
