Well there is your skewed view. You are basing your opinion on if you were athletic as a kid compared to now. All star little league, teen aged competitive soccer, and almost being able to dunk at 5'10 is not much to be able to base an opinion on a baseball player being athletic or not.
Little league baseball is not even CLOSE to professional baseball or even college baseball. Hell High school baseball is garbage compared to college. The learning curve in baseball is HUGE from high school to college...and then college to the pros.
I would be interested in what you considered as being "athletic"
Lets consult mr webster....dictionary that is....
First on the list.....Athletic

Hmmm seems to me that baseball players fit in to all 3 catagories for athletic.
Now on to Athelete!
A person possessing the natural or acquired traits, such as strength, agility, and endurance, that are necessary for physical exercise or sports, especially those performed in competitive contexts.
OMG what a surprise, that fits a baseball player perfectly. Escpecially the endurance part, what people dont understand is that it takes more out of the human body going from a still position, reacting to a ball, moving at full speed to a ball and making a play on the ball, then throwing to a base/back to the infeild, than constant running does.
And putting soccer above baseball? Please man, first off kicking a ball is very similiar to hitting a baseball. It takes hand eye coordination er foot coordination in this instance. There is actually very similiar movements in soccer and baseball, both are putting your body through essentially the same thing.
And for your little quote that there is 5 minutes of action in a 3 hour baseball game, i suggest you come out and play some baseball with me. Because if you think that all they do is stand around for 2 hours and 55 minutes, your wrong. Watching little league, or even high school ball is not the same as a real game, and what you see on TV is just a very small part of baseball. You dont see the guys constantly in motion for 3 hours, because the camera isnt focusing on them.
