I got a couple questions that have really been bothering me the last few weeks.
1.) What the fuck is up with all the grunting and hollering that people do at the gym? There was this guy the other day, a real mutant if you know what I mean, no neck at all and his arms were about the size of my leg and every time he lifts anything there is this loud "UUUUGGHH!!!" I figured the guy was lifting one crapload of weight and was really giving it his all, kinda like a Ki in martial arts, but then I happen to be near him later and realize that he is using less weight than I am and he is taking longer breaks between sets than I am and I dont even think he was doin as many reps as I was. Now maybe he had been there working out for several hours before I got there or something, but I am pretty sure he came in after I started so I dont think it was fatigue. I know he wasnt there at the same time that week because I was there every day and I owuld have noticed him. WTF if you would look at this guy you would think he would be curling my body weight but instead he is hollering like a little bitch over 25lb curls. How the hell did he get arms like that lifting 25lb at a time? Is it just a ploy for attention that he hollers like that? WTF?
2.) What the fuck is up with the posturing in the mirrors? I can understand watching yourself doing an excersize to make sure that you are doing it properly, but are facial expressions part of working out? I was watching this guy lift the other day (I learn by watching others) and I felt like I was awatching Jim Morrison or some shit. he is making these overdramatic faces at himself and making goo-goo eyes in the mirror to the point that I had to look away because it was embarrassing.
People are truly strange, and gym-rats seem to be an especially strange bunch of folks.
