If I wasn't Jamaican, why would I wear this hat?

I never understand people that say 'why do it at all?' People like to get high and feel good, period. Drinking, pot smoking, other illicit drug use, riding rollercoasters, jumping out of airplanes, etc. They all induce chemical changes in your brain. Just the way it is.
And what are all these other vague 'side effects' of pot use. Reefer Madness does not count as actual research people, sorry.
mofish wrote:No. Well, I drink occasionally. I used to smoke cigs and quit. I experimented with all sorts of drugs in college, but that was purely experimentation. As far as I can tell, I dont have an addictive personality. The only thing I was ever verifiably addicted to were cigarettes, and I quit smoking those several years ago now.
I enjoy some occasional marijuana, but have no problem at all not smoking it. Have to stay clean for a job or some such? Not a problem.

One is legal. One is illegal. If pot was legal I believe its rehab numbers would be similar.
I'd rather not legalize enough drugs so that we end having some of the drug crises that parts of Europe are going thorugh.

for those 3 million children it's illegal
also you're omitting something important here: alcohol is physically addicting, marijuana is not.
Tetrahydrocannabinol,is the main, active ingredient in marijuana and it temporarily alters brain functioning that affects sensory perception, reflexes, and coordination. Because it changes the way people see, hear, and feel, it can impair judgment. Driving under the influence of marijuana is extremely dangerous. The fact that many teens smoke marijuana while they are drinking alcohol makes driving even more lethal.
Marijuana is physically addicting. Each year, 100,000 people in the United States alone are treated for marijuana dependence. Heavy marijuana smokers who quit smoking may experience the same symptoms of withdrawal as users of nicotine or other drugs.
