So the fuck what. He finally hit my tolerance point, and went past it. If I get banned, I get banned, I honestly don't give a shit. Themo and I were having an actual adult discussion on the issues, with each one of us actually listening to the other's points and commenting back and forth. Then Harrison had to come in like a rebel without a clue yet again, with his insipid and brainless 1-liners, followed by Lyion coming in making COMPLETELY baseless and absolutely utterly off the wall accusations with no resemblance to reality. He out-mindia'ed Mindia.

So lyion, you're hard core catholic, you were defending the church about it's handling of covering up the raping of little boys. Why, you in on the action? Get an altar boy all your own? Bet you love that, would be typical of most catholics. AFter all, if the priests do it, it must be OK for the congregation! So what gets you off the most, the crying, the sniffling, or staring at the crucifix while you do him up the ass?

See, you're not the only one who can make offensive off the wall comments. How do you like it being on the receiving end for a change?

Hey, I was never king of the one-liners. I honestly don't know who's being the bigger dipstick here... you or Lyion. You sounded much better when you articulated your position without resorting to personal insults. We all know now, by reading this thread, how little Lyion actually knows about Christianity... about the SDA church, and even about his own faith, but this is some pretty harsh mud-slinging, Arlos.

Normally I do try and stick to actual intelligent debate and discussion. Look back at some of the ones I have had with Donnel, and the one here with Themo. That's the kind of discussion I most enjoy.

Lyion, on the other hand, has gotten worse and worse with making completely offensive and out there accusations with no relation whatsoever to reality or the previous discussion. I've asked him to stop repeatedly in PMs, and just within the last day or 2 bitched him out about it when he did it to Darcler.

This last post finally reached my breaking point. So, I decided to give him a taste of his own medicine, by deliberately being as out there and offensive as possible.

I have no intention of changing my normal style of discussion and debate in general. This is a special case.

It's the only way to actually get a far left liberal to actually discuss stuff. I call it 'Howard Dean' rhetoric. :cool6:

Hmm, I wasn't offended. Maybe because one of our analogies was a bit inline with someones views, and the other wasn't. Even if mine was very unfairly over the top, like yours are often times.

You want the Government to pay for everything and you want people to do whatever they want, regardless of the consequences. You hate the G word, and you rail at religion despite the fact it isn't a big deal, and you misunderstand the 'separation of church and state' portion of our country in an ACLU hate faith type manner.

In a round about way, my post while offensive and unfairly over the top was unfortunately accurate with the ACLU mindset, Arlos.

Mindia, Arlos doesn't flame often and he earns the right to do so when provoked. While I am on polar opposites of the field with Arlos and like to debate things, even if neither he nor I will change viewpoints I'd have no problem with him moderating or when he does something like this, because it's usually called for.

This differs from you who are obnoxious and overbearing in almost every thread. Then you wonder why you get banned.

Your perception of me being "obnoxious and overbearing" doesn't discount the fact that I contribute, and not just troll. Listen to what people are saying. Sometimes you overplay your hand, because you can... and that's not right. If you're honest with yourself you will see that 99% of the time when I am "obnoxious," per your estimation, it's because people have pushed me into a corner and I don't back down. You even told me several times in PM's to "let it go" because I'm dealing with morons, or whatever the word was that you used.

Now, on a final note about EGW and the SDA church... If you would like to discuss rationally why it's ok and acceptable for a member of the SDA church to hold certain reservations about EGW please feel free to PM me any time. You're getting too hung up on a drop in the bucket overall, and you should preclude yourself from visiting anti-Adventist websites. Now, I'll try to lay this topic to rest unless some smartass starts back up again.

No, I don't. That's my point exactly. Way to pay attention.

You certainly contribute, but you also rub people the wrong way. I do it occasionally when I'm trying to get a point across and I feel the only way is through being blatant.

The thing is I rarely insult people directly via personal attacks. I also don't take it personally if someone attacks my beliefs, my politics, or what I think in general. Idea's are just that, fluid and changing for many of us.

No, I'm looking at the base beliefs of the SDA, of which you are not willing to discuss. It's similar to me dodging the birth control issue that is being pushed by Catholicism. I don't agree with it, but it is part of the church.

I have people on my block who are SDAs and its interesting in talking with them that they also do not like the Ellen White part of the religion, but it is indeed part of that church, as far as I can tell.

Like I said Lyion... EGW was a great person, a great writer, has clarified many passages in the Bible making it easier for people to understand, and has brought many people closer to Christ. That is how I believe God has worked through her to get to other people. Many Adventists take it a step further and proclaim EGW a prophet, who had the gift of prophecy, per definition.

Webster's has two definitions of "Prophet." The first is: One who utters divinely inspired revelations. The other is: One who foretells future events.

Well, from research on EGW, we know that many of her "visions" never came to being, and that she has changed her mind on a couple of different issues. Yes, I have read "Desire of Ages", and I've also read "Steps to Christ." I definitely believe she was filled with the holy spirit to be able to write so clearly and eloquently. But, she also had a massive head injury when she was younger so I don't know what role that may or may not have played in her works.

Bottom line is this: You do not need to be firm believer in EGW as a prophet in order to be considered a member in good standing of the SDA church. Frankly, I'm tired of going around in circles with you on the subject because you've demonstrated that you know so very little of the SDA church. Perhaps you should invite your SDA neighbors over for lunch some Sunday afternoon and discuss it, or talk to a SDA pastor and attend a service. Your faith in anti-Adventist propaganda sites greatly illuminates your ignorance and clear lack of understanding on this subject.
