Taxx is your ex? He better be a good boy towards you or his boss might "accidently" find out what he does most of the day when he's suppose to be working! I'm sure there is more than enough of his racist and sexist quotes here to get him fired fairly quickly!

Pretty sure his boss doesn't care, as long as he gets his work done.

Sorry, what I meant to say as far as "mate" was any female dog in heat that the dog is residing with. I should have made it more clear. When a male dog knows a bitch is around he will act all wimpy and sappy like Wraith mentioned before, if he cannot get to the female. But if the pair live together and generally get along, whether they are currently mating that heat or not, the male will act on its protective instincts.

Either way, the woman is a dumb ass. Dog breeding logic aside.

Mom Charged In Fatal Pit Bull Attack On Boy

POSTED: 9:17 am MDT June 24, 2005
UPDATED: 9:29 am MDT June 24, 2005

SAN FRANCISCO -- A California woman has been charged with child endangerment because her 12-year-old son was fatally mauled in a pit bull attack.

Maureen Faibish has been charged in connection with the June 3 attack. Nicholas Faibish was killed by one or both of the family's dogs while his mother was running errands.

The boy was found in a bedroom, covered in blood from several wounds, including a major head injury.

One of the dogs was killed by a police officer. The other remains in animal control custody.

The woman told the San Francisco Chronicle she had been so concerned about one of the dogs that she shut her son in the basement to protect him. She said the male dog was acting possessively because the female was in heat.

She should have been charged with manslaughter with a deadly weapon.

Counting dogs as a weapon is becoming more and more common, it was done in the case of the woman who was mauled by 2 presa canarios that belonged to a couple in her apartment complex.

I wouldn't consider them weapons unless they were trained to be so.

Training or not dogs can be considered weapons. It is up to the owner to realize that they have an animal in their home and said animal may act rashly and unpredictibly. This means, if the owner knows that the animal they own could be dangerous, they can be charged with negligance and even manslaughter if the person dies. (IE, if your bunny rabbit manages to kill someone somehow, there is no possible way in hell you should have thought it could be a dangerous animal, so you would not be liable.) If the case is more serious, the person can be charged with second degree murder and their animal will be counted as the weapon. First degree murder can also be commited through the use of an animal.

Here is another one. It happened earlier this week. The article is from the San Franciso Chronicle:

Pit bull attacks girl in her Santa Rosa yard. Third mauling in Bay Area in a month amid calls to crack down on the breed.

A pit bull that escaped from a Santa Rosa home mauled an 8-year-old girl who had been playing next door in her yard on Wednesday, deeply gashing her face, and then turned on the girl's mother when she rushed to help.

The attack was the third serious mauling by a pit bull in the Bay Area this month and coincides with actions by some local and state officials to crack down on aggressive canines and their owners.

On Tuesday, state Sen. Jackie Speier, D-Hillsborough, introduced a bill that would allow cities and counties to enact breed-specific laws affecting dogs after the mauling death in San Francisco of 12-year-old Nicholas Faibish by his family's pit bulls.

Sonoma County sheriff's deputies say the pit bull attacked Annette Rojas in the yard of her cottage home on Santa Barbara Avenue around 11:35 a.m. Deputies said the dog ran into the yard and clamped onto Annette's face. Her mother, Norma Flores, who was inside the house, and two male neighbors working on a car nearby heard the girl's screams and ran into the yard. The men, Hector Preciado, 24, and Jesse Revas, 20, hit the dog numerous times with a crowbar and a pool cue and used their bare hands to pry him from the girl, deputies said.

The dog then went after the girl's mother, biting her arm and legs, deputies said.

After pulling the dog off the 37-year-old mother, the men trapped the pit bull in a garage on the property, and they and Annette and Flores took refuge inside the house. But the dog managed to escape the garage and enter the house through an open door, at which point the four locked themselves in the bathroom and called police.

The girl and her mother were taken to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital.

Flores was treated and released after doctors cleaned and bandaged wounds to her right forearm, middle finger and both of her legs, said Kevin Andrus, a hospital spokesman.

Her daughter was listed in fair condition with deep lacerations to the right side of her face and injuries to her arms and neck.

"The doctors said that some of these injuries will likely result in permanent scarring," Andrus said. "She has definitely been traumatized by this situation, and she has undergone several procedures in the last few hours."

Annette is expected to be hospitalized for two or three days so doctors can monitor her injuries to prevent infection.

Her mother "told friends at the hospital that she is very angry that this happened to her daughter and the community needs to address the problem," Andrus said.

The dog, an 8-month-old pit bull named Smokey, was being watched by Geraldine Whitaker, who lives next door to Annette and her mother. The dog had not been neutered.

Smokey stayed at Whitaker's house between four and six months while his owner, Blanca Galan, searched for a home that would allow dogs. Whitaker, 74, is a family friend of Galan who also baby-sat Galan's three children while the single mother went to work in Rohnert Park. She told The Chronicle she was willing to take care of the dog only because Galan's kids loved him so much.

"I didn't want it here in the first place," she said from her home. "I hate pit bulls."

Galan's 13-year-old daughter walked the dog every day, Whitaker said. On Wednesday, Whitaker took the youngest child to swimming lessons, and the 13- year-old stayed home with the dog.

Whitaker, who returned home after the attack, said Smokey managed to escape through an open screen door and then through an open gate before entering Annette and her family's yard.

The 13-year-old girl chased after the dog, but he had already started to attack, Whitaker said.

Yolanda Estrada, in an interview outside her home, said she was outside with her son Preciado and her nephew Revas when they heard screams from the yard. The two men ran into the yard to find the dog on top of the 8-year-old, Estrada said.

Preciado later told his mother the dog was latched onto Annette's face and "wouldn't let go. It was dragging her," Estrada said.

As police arrived with drawn pistols, the 13-year-old girl attempted to prevent the officers from shooting Smokey by throwing herself on top of him, Whitaker said.

The officers shoved the dog into a bedroom until animal control officers arrived and were able to noose the dog and put it inside a vehicle, deputies said. Officers handcuffed the 13-year-old and put her in the back of the police car, Whitaker said. She was later released.

Sonoma County Animal Control will conduct an investigation into the attack and forward the results to the Sonoma County district attorney's office to determine if any criminal charges will be filed in the case.

"I don't put any blame on anyone except that damn dog," Whitaker said. "They are a wonderful family and just want their kids to have things. Unfortunately, they got the wrong dog.

"It was just a horrible, horrible chain of events. I'm about as depressed as you can get."

Smokey, who was purchased by the family from a private party, will remain in quarantine for 10 days. There are no prior complaints about the dog, said Bob Garcia, the supervising animal regulation officer for Sonoma County.

"We are going to look into declaring the dog as vicious," Garcia said.

The attack marks the third by a pit bull in the Bay Area this month.

On June 14, a pit bull attacked and seriously injured its 66-year-old owner in Rohnert Park. Police said the 60-pound dog had a history of aggression and was feared by neighbors.

The woman, Tommie Munoz, was hospitalized with extensive injuries to her legs after the attack by King, her 9-year-old pit bull terrier. That attack happened as Munoz argued with her son. The dog allegedly attacked the son and then turned on Munoz as she tried to intervene.

Faibish, 12, was killed June 3 in his home in the Inner Sunset after his mother left him home alone with the family's two pit bulls while she ran errands.

The recent maulings have raised concerns throughout the Bay Area, with city officials promising to crack down on pit bulls and pit bull mixes.

Mayor Gavin Newsom has endorsed several measures in hopes of reducing the likelihood of attacks by aggressive and dangerous dogs. Those include spaying and neutering regulations, a ban on backyard breeding and fines for irresponsible dog owners.

Assumptions. Pit bull maulings get the attention they get because its just not fucking news when a lab bites someone. It happens, but people don't care, its not exciting or sensational! Its just not dangerous sounding. Not to mention the caliber of the majority of people that own and raise pits is not exactly outstanding.

The pitbull used to be a symbol of America. It was thought of as a loyal friendly dog that empitomized the American idea of bravery and companionship. In fact, many old children's movies that use dogs used pitbulls. What do you think the dog in little rascles was?

It was only when white trash drug addicts started to own pitbulls and bring together the blood sport of dog fighting (because bull baiting just wasn't as exciting anymore) with the drug industry that the breed went down the drain. When the caliber of the owners changed, so did the dog.

Maybe Labs don't get the attention because they aren't so vicious when they bite someone.

Show me Labs or Golden retrievers mauling their owners. You can't. They don't.
Pit Bulls should be fucking outlawed. If my neighbor had one I'd poison the fucker. I can show you frequent reports of pit bulls mauling people.

At a MINIMUM owners should be 100% responsible for the actions of their pets. If your dog kills someone, and it's your animal, it should be no different than if you were holding a gun that did it.

Its only a matter of time before these dogs are outlawed. And they should be, period.

http://www.rosenblog.com/2005/05/24/pit ... tions.html

This is a great site with a listing of Pit Bull attacks and the fact certain cities, like Denver, have already banned the breed.

They are a dangerous, unsafe animal and they should not be allowed anymore than other unsafe animals should.
The term "responsible pit bull owner" is fast becoming an oxymoron....The breed is being ruined by the nuts out there who call themselves breeders, who aren't breeding for good, stable temperments. Anyone who has ever flipped through any of the major dog magazines, like Dog Fancy, cannot with a straight face claim that pit bulls are being bred as loving family pets. I have never met a group of dog owners who know less about their breed, or dogs in general, than pit bull owners. They insist that "it's all how you raise them" and completely ignore the genetic component of dog behavior.

Human affection won't make my bird dog ignore birds; and love and kisses won't make a fighting breed safe to be around other animals....only years and years of constant training and socialization will temper that genetic drive. Animal aggresion in pits is real, and very dangerous, as many people have been mauled trying to save their pet from a neighbor's pit who "just got loose once". Its called re-directed aggression, and it happens.

And the pit who attacks other small animals who has not been socialized with small children may mistake a toddler for an animal...it's called prey drive....the news is full of such accounts.

http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?news ... 2215&rfi=6

...When you combine the pit's massive jaw strength, and genetic trait known as "gameness"...the ability to hang on and keep attacking and not back down, that prized trait of fighting dogs.....unless this animal is very carefully bred for temperment you have a very dangerous dog.

No doubt a pit bull carefully bred by a responsible breeder for a non-aggressive temperment, owned by a responsible owner who spends lots of time training and socializing the dog, can make a wonderful pet. Even so, responsible owners of fighting breeds know that they cannot take their animals to dog parks or let them off leash in public EVER.

They don't set their dogs up to fail. The problem with pit bulls is the owners, and you will never solve the problem of forcing the types of people who are attracted to this breed to do the right thing. That's why people want them banned.

Actually the dog was bred from the very get go as a fighting dog. It had nothing to do with recent white trash owners. The breed was CREATED to be a fighting dog. That's where the name comes from.

One other dog that was bred that way was Akitas, in Japan. I would be interested to see a history of their violent behavior. Wonder if the only reason there aren't more problems is because they're nowhere near as common. I doubt it somewhat, though, given the limited amount I know about the breed.

Someone I know has a pit bull, supposedly really friendly, etc. I am over there, petting her, she seems really sweet, begging to get petted, seemingly enjoying the hell out of it, then suddenly, out of nowhere, when I am doing nothing different (petting her), she leaps up and tries to bite my face. Lucky for quick reflexes, she just grazed my nose. Owner tackled her and dragged her off right away, then apologised profusely.

Face it, the breed just has bad wiring. The sooner they're banned everywhere, the better.

I agree that pit bulls, rotts and other dogs seem dangerous to me. I think it all has to do with the breeding, because I have seen some nice ones. I guess even the bad breeds have some good ones. Akitas are supposed to be excellent guard dogs and protective of children, but they are known to "snap" and injure children. I also believe that it is not only the way YOU raise the pup, but how it's mother was raised.
