porblem with firefox

Postby leah » Wed Jan 04, 2006 12:49 am

okay so i had been getting overrun with pop-ups whilst using IE so i switched to firefox.

while i'm very happy with the lack of pop-ups and i find its overall use to be easy and uncomplicated, i've been having a really weird problem with it lately... whenever i click on links, i have to click them four or five times before it will actually work. also, pages will load only halfway or sometimes not at all. it's just being generally funky and i am confused.

what's the deal and how do i fix it??

I've never had that problem with Firefox. You may want to uninstall and reinstall it.

Do you have the latest version installed, and are you using any plug ins or extensions beyond the basic install?

yeah, i have never had trouble with Firefox unless the code is written to be unfriendly to anyone not using IE, there are times when I get E-mail that it will give me the optino to "show images" or not, so it could appear that the page doesn't load but all you have to do is choose the option to load the images, maybe just reinstall

    porblem = user error.

    More than likely if you took your shirt off and typed topless and posted the pics here the problem would clear right up.

    I own a computer company. Trust me.

    my internet does the same thing but it's because i'm jacking wireless from someone and the signal goes in and out. if it only happens in firefox, the problem can be solved by not using firefox

      seriously though

      i've uninstalled, re-downloaded, and reinstalled like three times and it's still doing the same shit--i have to click links multiple times before it will go to the page or open a new window or whatever, new windows will open and then not load and say "done" at the bottom, pages will load but in a different format than they're supposed to be, or pages will open but only load halfway (for example: when i sign into facebook it will only load half the pictures that it's supposed to load and the other half will just be blank spaces--not even a little broken picture icon).

      WTF

      :dunno: i'm guessing that's not the problem... unless i should check that box?

      i haven't added any extensions or themes, nor do i know how. i just downloaded the most basic thing in hopes of avoiding pop-ups--which thankfully, i haven't had any since using firefox but these problems are way more annoying than pop-ups. :cry:

      i think it's your ISP, not your software. unless everything works like normal in another browser. if you're using wi-fi you probably are having signal interference

      if you're using wireless then it could be computer placement. anything running at the same hertz as your wireless signal can interfere (microwaves, phones, etc.) or your computer is in a spot that's blocking a lot of reception. mine sucks so bad because i live in a huge concrete building and the server is like two blocks away or something. so that's why mine goes in and out. if you have a lot of shit around that interferes with radio signals--move them.
