Amid growing signals of panic in the Liberal ranks, the party has launched a series of crudely anti-American commercials. One stated that victory for the 47-year-old Tory leader, Stephen Harper, would "bring a smile to George W Bush's face".
Another described Mr Harper as "pro-Iraqi war, anti-Kyoto, socially conservative... Bush's new best friend".

That just strikes me as silly. But desperation is a stinky cologne, I suppose.

Is any system of government perfect? Absolutely not. As Gore interestingly quoted from John Locke: "All just power is derived from the consent of the governed." in Arlos's post in CA, each nation's citizenry has it's own tastes for how/what form their government takes. If Canadians want a socalist minded government, fine. I think it serves as a reality check on what our own politicians push for from time to time. My opinion is that people will evntually rebel against the ideals of socialist as it strikes against our inherant nature, but we shall see.
