As far as Christianity being a 'personal' religion while Islam being more social-command orientied, Lyion is right.
The Bible has its share of purely legalistic type sections (Exodus' commandments, Leviticus, ect), but the bulk of it is the conveyance of spiritual wisdom via allegory.
The Koran on the other hand, is literally several hundred pages of flat out commands. To paraphrase it in its entirity: "God is all loving, forgiving, and all compassionate. Those who do not believe in God shall suffer eternally, and should be made to suffer. Praise God." Pretty much repeat that about 500 times and add in all their whackjob rules and you've pretty much got the Koran in a nutshell.
