I havn't read all the posts yet but I love to camp!!
Started with the tent stuff, with then the GF, got married had a kid, went tent camping 1 time.
Bought a coleman pop up, very nice, side poped out, two king beds, etc, loved it. Easy to pull / tow, not real fun pitchen down in the rain tho, maintanance was kind of a bummer but was "easy"
Had another kid, kept pop-up for about 2 more years.
Bought a 32' travel trailer with hitch (28' without hitch), tow with my f150 quad cab (used to tow with my expedition). F150 tows it MUCH better. Only issues I have with a travel trailer is the same shit you have go wrong with your house. Plumbing, electrical, etc. I've not had problems (well cept that one time I forgot to winterize the bathroom sink = mess = $$). Have a good bit of maintainance costs, all depend on your skills tho.
Anyway, I look at it this way, RV = Truck + Travel trailer = 2nd car if you want to be mobile and camp. Travel Trailer is just a house you pull and then you disconnect, you can still be mobile.
Keystone Lerado '01 was the make/model/year. The whole side pops out and gives you a good bit of room. I wouldn't think to buy one without the slide out now and I'd look at some good reviews / references before you buy as well (as I'm sure you will)
EDIT
I just check your links, I know cash can be an issue but I would not buy a pop-up with a bathroom, toilet or shower. Many models give you an external shower head via a small door or whatnot, build a small "vestibule" if you "need" to shower AT your camper (otherwise use the campground facilities). I would also not get one without the pull-out / slide out. If you haven't seen one in person, the pull out makes a HUGE difference. Having to deal with grey water+sewage in a pop up = NOT FUN. Especially if you have a wife / kids that are less then water conscious(sp) (e.g wastes the water). I'm no guru but I've done a lot of shopping around in both of my camper purchases.
EDIT x2
I thought those airliners were that expensive because they are all aluminum or some shit. BTW my coleman didn't have AC, I wish it did many a time for whatever its worth.
EDIT x3 ROFL
Travel Trailer = mobile cabin > tent
