I know I did it with my kids, not sure if there are different rules in different hospitals or whatever, but my sons spent a lot of time in my room with me, and they had a collection of diapers and wipes in the bassinet and a drawer in the room. One of the first things they showed me with both my kids was how to change a diaper and how to bathe them.

I agree with the idea that something is missing from this story. It just doesn't add up.

It must be a state thing. Both of my sons were born in Michigan, and they sent nurses to your home for the first few weeks afterwards and helped us with all that stuff, and checked wiehgt and jaundice and all the god stuff that freaks you out, like my sons didn't poop for a week, and there first poop was like tar.

That reminds me - I didn't poop for a week when I was a newborn. So I got a little piece of soap shoved up my ass. Boom, poop. Maybe I was raped. :(

You'd think if they used something to remove poo they'd have told SOMEONE in the 6 weeks since they lost custody of the baby.

I agree the whole story isn't there, however.

Listen carefully, because you obviously got a bit defensive and put words in my mouth...

I didn't say choosing a home birth makes you a deviant. However, typically being a deviant makes you choose a home birth. How many of those teenage girls that threw their babies in dumpsters, went to the hospital first, then took it outside and tossed it?

If you're going to rape a baby, or beat your kids, or beat your wife, you don't typically do it while at the hospital.

Sure, maybe they are just the most moronic people ever who are physically capable to conceive. (people below the retardation line are usually sterile) However, I still don't buy the story as is.

You obviously haven't a clue about home births so shut up. You are talking about something entirely different when you talk about babies in dumpsters and things like that.

Also, you'd be surprised about the shit that goes on in hospitals. Go talk to an ER doc or nurse about some of the crap they see.

Mar~~

Idon't think he was saying that woman who have home births are deviants. I think what he was saying was that if someone wanted to do something bad to the baby, they would be more likely to have a home birth and harm the baby their than to take it to the hospital and then harm the baby.

I don't understand why you are getting all shitty with me about homebirths. I havn't said there is anything wrong with it. I mean, I could say that it's pretty fucking irresponsible considering all the possible birth complications. (example: my brother was born with maconium(poop) in his lungs and had to suctioned before he could breath) or he would have died. Of course, I'm sure you'd be more than prepared to handle such a situation giving birth at home.

I didn't say that though, I said: I didn't say choosing a home birth makes you a deviant. However, typically being a deviant makes you choose a home birth.

If you want to be pissed at me, I'll oblige and give you a reason, but at least give me the opportunity first. ;)

How is that not saying women who have home births are deviant? Hey, I'm gonna have my kid at home so I can hurt it but I'm not deviant! I'd say most women who pick home births do it so they can connect with their newborn without a lot of intrusive nurses and equipment.

Go dredge up that ER doctor thread and read about the dumb things people do at the hospital.

Oh yeah, my mother has been a nurse for 24 years, half of that as an ER nurse. Sorry, no dice. She has seen some fucked up shit, but nothing even remotely like this.

being a deviant makes you choose a home birth

Like I said...you know nothing about home births. They are hardly unassisted, there is always a midwife or doula there. I know a lot of decent women that have chosen home births and it wasn't for any ulterior motive.

Wow, do I really have to explain this to you.

Having a home birth does not make you a deviant, for all the reasons you listed. Wanting to get closer to your baby. Whatever.

Being a deviant makes you have a home birth, because they obviously aren't going to allow you to be a deviant at the hospital.

The first is a choice made for a reason. The second is a choice made by necessity.

I didn't realize this was complex logic.

Check this out Mart. i think Spliffs is trying to say it like this. Read this, and go back to my square rectangle example.

Deviants will most likely do a home birth. Not saying home births are for deviants, just saying that's the birth of choice for a deviant because they don't want to do it in a hospital for whatever reason.

Responsible parents or regular people will choose either a home birth with assistance and all that stuff that makes it majestic and cool OR they will go to a hospital. Either or. If they choose home birthing, doesn't make them a deviant, just means they chose it.

It's like, most black people will have hot wings and welch's grape for lunch. I like hot wings and welch's grape too, but eating it doesn't make me black.

Not giving one's child the best chance for success is dodgy.

Birthing is a very traumatic thing where many, many things can go wrong. Doing it at home is at best questionable.

I'm sure someone could perform a hernia operation, or remove their gall bladder at home, too, since so much could happen in hospitals, but really I wouldn't recommend that, either.

Shit, my next kid I'm going to Michigan. I had a nurse come about a week after they were born once, did a check said they were fine and left. Most the time in the hospital though they left you alone except for random checks and food. You could send the baby to the nursery if you wanted to rest or could keep them in the room with you. I unfortunately could see how they could find the time to do that...I don't understand why, how could they be that horrible if they did, or how they could be that stupid.

And yeah, first poops especially are tarry ones. Good times. ><

That's a good way to put his deviant theory.

In TX, at least in Presby Dallas, the baby could stay with you the whole time if you wanted, except if they needed to bathe or run tests. You fed, changed and held them the rest of the time. If you wanted to sleep without the baby, they took it back to the nursery and only brought it back so you could feed it every 2 or 3 hours.
Gid got to change the tarpoop.

Oh, I'm not about to defend these monsters, and I know this cant be close to what happened with them, especially being 1 day old, but my daughter's butt is bleeding currently. She has a rash and when I wipe, she gets little cut places and bleeds slightly.
Aggressive wipers COULD be the answer, but I highly doubt it.

First off anyone having a home birth has to meet strict criteria or they won't find a competent doula or midwife. Being deviant will NOT meet anyone's criteria. Secondly, giving birth in a gas station bathroom does not qualify as a home birth.

I am done with the subject of deviants.

Bleeding from a rash looks much different than tears, Darc, and a newborn wouldn't have had time to develop diaper rash anyway. Like I said if they had gotten overzealous with wiping you'd think they would have said something by now.
