WARNING OPINION INCOMING:

Abortion on demand ("I don't wanna be pregnant!") : Bad

Abortion because baby is "inferior" ("I don't wanna have to care for this baby who may only live two days") : Bad, I believe the baby should be given a chance to live, who knows, tests may have been performed incorrectly, or the damage not as severe as originally thought. If the abortion is because the parents don't want to have to raise a retarded child or a disabled one, that is pure selfishness on the part of the parents.

Abortion because mother would die otherwise ("I really want this baby, but if I have it, I will die and they baby may too") : *shrug* Depends on the situation I'd say. And this is rather rare in America.

ALSO Opinion incoming:

Abortion on Demand: Shouldn't ever be the first option, birth control and/or the morning after pill should. However, given the efforts of the Christian Right, kids aren't adequately taught about either in school, which they should be. (this is an argument for another thread, I think, though) However, up until the point where the fetus is viable on its own, (ie, the first trimester), the woman should have the right to abort the fetus. It's her body, government has no right to tell her what she can and cannot do with it.

Abortion because baby is "inferior": There's a huge difference between deciding to seek a late-trimester abortion because of a minor ailment, and seeking a late-trimester abortion because the baby is going to be born effectively entirely braindead. The first should be a no-no, the second, I can understand completely.

Abortion because of the health of the mother: This must be allowed, regardless of all other considerations. I agree it's rare, but no one can argue that it NEVER happens. Thus, you CANNOT entirely ban any procedure without leaving a clause in regarding this potential case.
