Meanwhile, you and I are paying 3 bucks a gallon at the pump.
So then, if the price of oil / barrel is going up and it is because of this that they have to increase their prices - how does that explain their record profits quarter after quarter. Maaayyyybbbeeeee it's because they're using the oil market as an EXCUSE to jack up prices and screw us out of every dollar they can.
When are people going to pull their heads out of their asses and wake up to the fact we are being screwed over by big oil and have a president and congress that isn't going to do jack shit about it?
Diekan wrote:We're being screwed because gas is necessity. If you want to get to work, to school, or to the grocery store you need gas. Unless you live in NYC or some other big town where you might be lucky enough to be able to walk every where.
The majority of Americans live around 30 minutes form their place of employment. How do you propose they get to work?
We're not talking about Pepsi where if you don't like the price you simply don't buy it. Again, we're talking about something you MUST have in order to live.

There are also trains in bigger cities, we're just now getting a rail close to our town, that cuts the time from 45 min to about 20. About $2.50 for a day pass. I'm sure they have discounted month long passes.
You dont *need* a car anywhere unless you live in bumfuck egypt where the closest bus stop is an hour away. And even there, the gas prices would be lower
Martrae wrote:We've gotten insular and selfish. There is no sense of community anymore. How many of your neighbors do you really know? Do any of them work in the same industrial park? Do you even know?
We don't bother to find out because it might inconvenience us in some way. OMG a carpool might make me leave 15 minutes earlier than I normally do, screw that! If I get to know the neighbors they may want me to help them with something, forget that!
It's all about pre-packaged, drive up windows, fastest, least amount of effort everything in the US anymore.
Darcler wrote:Ok, if you need to go grocery shopping, take your car. That should be a less than a mile trip.
I drive a Lancer, I cant load anything bigger than a stroller in there. If I needed to bring home furiture, I'd have the furniture company bring it to me, as it is part of their job.
I havent bought gas in a long time. I havent driven that car in a long time. The price of gas isnt bothering me because I buy it much less often that someone who is unwilling to take the bus or carpool.
