the ramen thread made me think of it, what are some of the quickest, cheap things you guys make

for our family, it's probably dough soup

crack 2,3,4,5 eggs in a bowl (depends on how many you're feeding, or if you're super hungry omg)

add flour and mix together until it's almost doughy, but still pretty sticky

boil water

drop spoonfuls of mixture into the boiling water, cook until light, white and fluffy

drain water

drop a big spoonful of butter/margarine into the still warm pot, then cover with milk

voila, dough soup

ps, salt will be needed

Bag of caesar salad mix, which includes the lettuce, croutons and caesar dressing.

Perdue chicken tenders.

Let the chicken tenders marinade in italian dressing for 30 minutes, throw them on a frying pan until done.

Combine chicken with caesar salad and KAPLOW!

tuna & noodles:

boil a bag of egg noodles and drain; add a can of cream of chicken soup, a (drained) can of tuna, however much sour cream you prefer, and salt/pepper to taste. mmmm.

That sounds close to something we make Leah.. We use tuna, egg noodles, cream of mushroom soup, peas, and celery. Makes a nice hotdish type thing.

good call

I make the same thing, except once it's all mixed together, I grate some cheddar over top, sprinkle a bit of parmeson on top, then bake it for 15 mins(or until cheese is uber bubbly)

Take a slice of bread and punch a hole in it with a glass (eat bread middle).

Melt butter in a skillet and add some salt / garlic / whatever.

After you get both sides of the bread a little toastey, crack an egg into the hole and just fry it like a normal fried egg, remove and eat!

We do the tuna, cream of mushroom, veggies thing. I add a touch of lemon juice to it.

Chicken, rice, cream of mushroom baked together in the oven is cheap and easy, too.

Kahar makes an awesome Italian Sausage Soup. Italian sausage, beef broth, 3 different types of canned beans, diced tomatoes....yum yum. Cheap too. Toss into a crock pot and let cook.

Here's one my ex used to like me to make him sometimes. I think it was something his fam invented one cold day as kids and it stuck.
Boil Egg noodles, fry up some onions. Toss egg noodles, fried onions and ketchup together, add salt. It was some really good heartburn and smelled the kitchen up for a day or so of onions :)

nope, it's really tasty
a great variation is to cook up some bacon first, dry it, crumble it up and mix it into the dough

it makes a great meal for brunch on the weekends

i thought this was supposed to be ghetto recipes???? I think some of you are getting side tracked. If you have to use 5 different ingredients then i think it kind of takes the fun out of it. Some of it sounds good but not cheap.
Everyones recipes sound great though...
i'm writing them down.

Dunno if you meant the Italian soup...but $20 of ingredients will feed an at least 12 people with a ton of leftovers...seriously.

Lemme try to define what I meant by "Ghetto"

Just stuff that you probably have lying around in any house that you can toss together in 15 minutes or less(from start to eating)

standard recipes don't typically fall into the ghetto range!

ps, gravy that comes as a powder isn't gravy

that's just brown sauce
