With thousands upon thousands of miles of Rain forest, vegetation, and other trees being cut down daily reduces the amount of Co2 that can be tolerated in the environment. Increase in one thing, decrease in its balance will deffinatly dramatically effect the atmosphere.
The net oxygen produced by all the rainforests in the world is neglible.
I think that the rainforests should stay due to the uncatalogued biodiversity, however they simply do not play a role in this topic.
If you want to talk about the impact of soil erosion on phytoplankton & other forms of microalgae, then we can chat.

No I was pointing out that while corporation bias was obvious, individual scientists bias lies in the need to have a problem to reasearch to continue to receive a pay check... or find another job. This of course is not true of all scientists be they on either side of the issue, but money does have the insidious nature of a strong pull toward bias.

I love it.
I'm laughing because I really said this. I mean to say "if mindia says it isn't so.."

I went around my asshole to get to my elbow though

It contains harmful bacteria.

But to say that a scientist who has devoted his entire life to a cause is only doing so to get grant money from the government and cook up false research is just too conspiracy theory for me.
It's like assuming Paris Hilton eats kittens just because it makes sense.

I figured that was algae 101 and there was much more to learn about it..but that was neat enough to get me interested ^_^

Its a very interesting subject imho. Its amazing that every organism is vital to our everyday life, and how it interacts with eachother.
As i said before, im not a tree hugging hippy, i dont plan to strap myself to a tree in front of a bulldozer. However being aware of how things work in nature is extremely important to understanding what we as people are doing to the planet. It goes so much deeper than just global warming being, "hey the earth will be warmer"
