PMs

Postby Zanchief » Wed Jan 31, 2007 9:30 am

Some of my PMs seem to not send. This happens a lot.

The PMs stay in your outbox until the recipient checks it. Then it goes to your sent box. Also note that you can delete the message while it's in your outbox and the recipient will never see it (though they will receive an email notification that they have a PM).

The PM's still in my outbox even though the poster has logged in and posted. This happens all the time.

I'm guessing they haven't checked them, but maybe there's something random happening. Send me two if you'd like to check how it works. I'll only open one of them.

don't feel dumb. he probably helped you realize the same thing I was doing. if that is the case, there really isn't any way you could know what you were doing wrong.

I should really get a job as a tech support person. BTW, why haven't there been any "Excel help please" postings lately. C'mon, I need a challenge!

That's easy enough to do. If you're not joking, can you be more specific about what you want your function to calculate?

I write them when I need them for the most part.

Took me a little bit to figure out how to do it originally, but now I know!

I try to avoid them and do just about everything using built-in functions b/c I find that others have a hard time understanding what the functions are doing otherwise.

you need to write me a macro or something that'll import 60+ excel files into an access database!

I had to do a vlookup across several different sheets because of the way some of our reports are organized. Thats what got me started on them.

Most of the time I use the built in function as well with only a few exceptions.

That's doable too. I haven't done VBA in Access, but the analysts at my old firm did it all the time. Though, if it's only 60, you might find it easier to manually import them. I bet it would take less time unless you're doing it as an ongoing process or something. It's easy to import from Excel to Access as long as your spreadsheets are well-formed (i.e. you don't have text where numbers should be, etc.)
