Sure, but the way people obsess over their guns, there are a lot more of them to be stuffed into pants.

MOST people who 'obsess' over them have displays for them or lock them up. They have great respect for what they can do. It really boils down to wanting that feeling of power. It's not the violence they enjoy.

Kinda like what Leu said, Id rather be around someone that has too much respect for them than not enough respect.

Since when does a subscription to guns and ammo mean you respect guns? It just means you're a gun nut.

And all Canucks obsess over hockey and marijuana. Generalizing much?

I never said anything about some stupid fucking magazine subscriptions. Gun respect, to me at least, means you know how to properly operate one, store it safely, and most importantly, what they are capable of. How do you define it?

You saying all gun lovers are responsible is just as judgmental.

Plus you're right about Canadians~

When you're 7 and have nightmares, it's a bit overboard, I'd say.

I guess I wouldn't call that "respect" but "fear" as in your father taught you fear not respect if it was done in such a way as to invoke nightmares.

When I was told stories about what could happen without proper respect, like someone I knew who blew his index finger and thumb off because he was using a shotgun as a walking sick it was in the context of bad things can happen when you don't exercise good judgment. This in contrast would be a far cry difference then showing someone bloody pictures of the incident.

Quote me where I said all gun lovers are responsible.

Marty, my point is, it's unhealthy to obsess over something so inherently violent. I think that speaks to the nature of the gun violence.

yeah Hockey, Football and Basketball are such pacifistic sports.

want me to list a few nutjobs off the top of my head in your beloved sports?

And having a basketball player smack the shit out of a player isnt violent? Or is showing responsibility.

How about he last football game you watched? were you upset that the opposing QB got smashed on a blitz?

Dont even get me started on Hockey.

as for gun safety yeah I was taught at a early age to hunt. to shoot. and I went to firearms training.

Killer: I'm here to kill you and your family.
ClakarEQ: Oh no! Is that a gun you have there?!?
Killer: No. It's a tire-iron. I'm going to beat you to death with it, then your family starting from the legs and working my way up breaking every bone in your body.
ClakarEQ: Ok, that's a relief, for a minute I thought you might have a gun and I don't allow those in the house! Wouldn't want my kids to be exposed to those vile contraptions. Will you excuse me? I need to make a phone call to the police to come to my defense. I'll be right back, would you mind waiting in the foyer? Can I offer you some tea while we wait? Shouldn't be more than 15-20 minutes.
Killer: No thanks, I have another family to butcher next door. Thanks for the offer though...
<WHACK>

Tea? geesh you could have used soda or coffee :). Also, I'd want the kids to go first so they wouldn't have to watch ma and pa get beat down LOL.

What we need is someone from the U.K. on these boards. Those always crack me up in gun discussions.

Both of my UK buddies are bigger gun nuts than anyone I've seen here. When they came to Atlanta, their favorite thing to do was go to the range and shoot. They were mad they couldn't drink in there.. lol
