Was talking to someone from my old WoW guild about getting them interested in EQ II.
Problem is they don't seem to sell the disks any more. At least in this area. *Used* to be able to get them, but no more... not even at Best Buy.
So, looks like they're pulling disks from the shelves... they won't spend a dime on advertising... you think they're hoping the product dies?
I've seem some really bad business choices over the years... Enron, Worldcom, etc... but SOE takes the cake.
I get this feeling, they're giving up on the product and hoping it slowly dies.
EQ II Dying?

Re: EQ II Dying?
It's not a bad game by any means. It's just unfortunately shadowed by a cheap piece of shit like WoW.
How do you like this spoiler, motherfucker? -Lyion
Re: EQ II Dying?
I agree it is superior in practically every way. I just don't understand why they won't spend a dime to advertise; or why they're pulling the disks from the shelves.
The only reason it's shadowed by WoW is because Blizzard has conducted a very successful ad campaign. TV, radio, magazines, net banners, etc... I haven't seen a single ad for EQ II.
SOE stupidity I am sure... piss poor management, indeed.

Re: EQ II Dying?
Those who know about it know about it, those who don't won't be swayed by cardboard and plastic on the shelves. It is an online purchase only now iirc.
Re: EQ II Dying?
I bought a boxed copy of it at Best Buy in August for my son.
Re: EQ II Dying?
It could very well be they are repackaging it as well. I was looking everywhere for a game card not too long ago, and feared they were doing away with them. Then they came out with snazzy new packaging.
As far as advertising goes, i am really really surprised that SoE has never advertised their MMORPG games. They would get so much more business if they did. I know a ton of people that play WoW, who had never even heard or new what Everquest (1 and 2) was.

Re: EQ II Dying?
niche market dude... EQ1 takes a hell of a lot more work than WoW. they'd all quit after a week
