What the fuck are you talking about? Of course the last guy spent the same way. where exactly did I say, SHOW ME, where I said the last administration did not spend a fuckton of money? Bush was just as much of a tool as obama is. Put the joint down and think about what you are saying once in a while. Not once have I defended the last admin, on anything really, that I can remember. (Except G-Bay, I think I remember defending their actions there a while back, but thats about it)

Secondly, you are more burnt out than I have always thought you were (but then again, I dont think I can even think of a topic I agree with you on, eg. gun control. You are one of those people that makes me think "wtf kind of dipshit is this guy") if you think this country can do without coal. Like it or not, its not going anywhere. Even if this administration dumps another few trillion into alternative energy, you wont be able to phase it out in your lifetime. And even if they did, the more this world grows, the more metallurgical coal you are going to need. Thats the beautiful thing about my industry, so many people like you, up there on the pedestal, hate it, and cant do a good godamn thing about it. Its one reason I love it, because thats just how I am, if I see that something is pushing someones buttons, im going to keep pushing the fucker, just for the reaction.

Also, you are talking so far out of your ass its embarrassing. Do you have any idea what kind of hoops and regulations companies have to go through to even get the first land permit? JUST the first stage of permitting and going through the stream testing and all that takes years. You are like everyone else, you dont have the first clue about how the coal industry works, much less been on a mine property, but you sure can read the articles written by people who hate coal! When youve been on a mine property, and seen what they go through, the processes, the permitting, the constant inspections, THEN you can come talk to me about the coal industry. Until then, you are another uninformed hippy trying to sound smart, and it doesnt work.

And somewhat on topic, as I know this is what most people relate to when they think of coal mining, I even wish they would ban mountaintop removal. I wouldnt give one damn about it if they did. In fact, I would be happy, because it would help my business. The demand for coal would stay the same, but since they couldnt get it from surface mines, they would have to get more underground, which means more equipment, which means more gold for me. That, and mountaintop removal has a million times worse effect on the environment that underground mining does. I wouldnt mind one bit if they banned it.

Banning mountaintop removal is something we can agree on, as is the fact that coal use isn't going away in our lifetime. Even if we stop using it directly just as raw coal, I think we'll still use it in gassified or coal-to-liquids forms.

What I have a problem with is companies that don't do shit with their wastes, like that one a few months back that had that coal ash storage facility that collapsed, burying the fuck out of everything, polluting the streams, etc. I know you heard of that one, Gaazy. I also think that the current coal plants we have in this countrty need to be retrofitted to make them as absolutely clean as possible.

Eventually, I think we'll move away from coal in the long term, as technology develops. Of course, that won't be for a hundred years or more, as some of the things we would need are things like orbital solar power stations that thus avoid all questions of weather, etc. and then beam their power back to earth.

hook line and sinker :)

EDIT
My comments re: coal and the local southern populace were made to incite. I even dropped the hint that we can all play the game, I thought you would have recognized it for what it was. I think it's pretty common knowledge I'm a borderline socialist pretty much left of center a good bit. I'm 100% ok with our differences though. I hold true to my statements made over the years here. I have always believed folks like you and I, our differences, yet ability to remain the "same" (i.e. Americans) is what makes this country so great.

Yeah Arlos that company that had the break and lost all that ash was bullshit. They should be locked up for years and years for that complete show of lack of responsibility. But its really retarded to think ALL companies are like that. If thats how you think, then you can join the rest of the people in the "Never been to a mine site, much less know anything about it" line. Also, there's hazards in any industry you look at. I cant wait til they put all these wind mills up and they cause some kind of disaster. But as far as that ash goes, its not like nuclear waste or something, that has no other uses, it is a waste product that can be reused.

But yes, that was bullshit, and that company should be shut down. Theres another major player in the industry called Massey Energy that is the same way. They are the main reason the coal industry has a bad name. Their CEO, Don Blankenship, is a super piece of shit. Google him and look at all the shit on him. They actually have a case that is going to the supreme court right now. Massey tried to buy land off another small time mom and pop company, and they wouldnt sell, so Massey mined their land anyway, or something to that effect. And, to top it off, they won the state court case, because Blankenship had the judges bought out (literally, made over 3 million in campaign contribs, took them on vacations to Monaco worth a half a mill, and all kinds of other shit. Those judges, Brent Benjamin and Spike Maynard, are now removed from office and being punished) Massey does what they want when they want, and dont give a shit about anyone or the environment. They are what fucks the rest of the industry over. Companies like CONSOL and the like, do everything they can and more to protect the streams, habitat, ect., and then Massey comes along and ruins everything theyve worked toward. Its a fucking joke. They are the second biggest coal company in the world though, so they think they are tough shit. Theyve ruined numerous whole communities and areas.

Also, its another thing that shows why I dont trust the fucking government. They are all for fucking sale. See my other post for another reason
