This is the type of thing you get when you allow religious beliefs to rule government.

Fixt.

Sorry Gid, I had to fix it because you wouldn't get that with Christianity in government. :boots:

Not this specific issue, but there would be others. Its the idea of allow faith to dictate the rule of law rather then reasoned thought. Take Christianity for example. While you may have no issues with living my all Christian laws, others may not find this so wonderful. Lets simply look at the following.

You shall have no other Gods.
You shall not worship (or use in worship) images of anything in heaven or on earth.
You shall not misuse God's name.
Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.

While to a Christian, these may seem like perfectly acceptable laws for the nation, though many may certainly not agree with them. The entire issues centers around the fact that while Christians feel they should live by Christian laws, Muslims want to live by their laws and so on. No government should be run by a single faith as it in turn may make all other faiths illegal. You a Christian I assume would not want to live under and be forced to obey Muslim laws, the same would be said about the Muslim not wanting to live under and be forced to obey Christian Laws. Law needs to be Secular and not driven by a specific faith.

I dunno, Mindia. Those fundamentalist mormon sects claim to be christian, and they are known for both child brides and polygamy.

Not to mention, it wasn't THAT long ago when we in this country had 8 year olds working in coal mines, and not much longer before that before it was common for women to be married at 12, pregnant by 14. Just look at your European history.

Yes, I think an 8 year old bride is reprehensible, but you'll notice there's an awful lot of muslims slamming this as well, so it's hardly a universal feature of the faith, any more than those fundamentalist mormons are exemplars of christianity.

Mormons are NOT Christians in the truest sense of the word. Heck, they don't even believe in the holy trinity. They are in their own little pretentious world with the "Book of Mormon."

no, Mindia, Christians may not marry off the 8 year olds - they just kill them and stuff them in suitcases like that sunday school teacher in the Sandra Cantu case.

or they protest our soldiers funerals and talk about how horrible they are and how God hates america like the Fred Phelps group.

That's okay that I'm assuming all christians are like that, right? because I mean if a few of them are, that means all of them are, right?

in your stereotyping frenzy, did you even happen to see the name of the journalist who covered the story?

Don't worry, Mindia probably wont be coming back to this thread because he's a big pussy and has no logical explanation for his statements.

That is sort of a catch 22 with Christians and some internal conflict of my own.

For example, even a murderer, child rapist, etc can enter Heaven so long as they've confessed their sins and accepted Jesus Christ as their savior. There is no evil so great that Christ can overcome it, but saying it isn't enough, for words carry little value and it is the mind and heart that make the difference. If any Christian disagrees with me, sorry to say, then you are not a Christian /shock.

So in your example Ginz, maybe :P

How many examples of crazy muslims do you need Gypsiyee? Do you even listen/watch the news? Or do you pick and choose what your ears want to hear? I love how you point out the "bad behaviors" that one out of tens of thousands of Christians make, in an attempt to argue your stupid point. There are more dangerous criminally-minded muslims than any other religion. So don't talk to ME about "generalizations."

And as far as Vonktaard's comment. You don't even know what I was talking about with my OUT-OF-WEDLOCK-LOVE-CHILD comment. Let me DUMB IT DOWN FOR YOU... Jesse Jackson was married, a REVEREND, and had an affair, and got a girl pregnant in that affair. THAT is the out-of-wedlock-love-child. How can you even compare my fiance getting pregnant (a fact I willfully talked about here because I was excited) with what the ultimate HYPOCRITE like Jesse Jackson did? Yes, the REVEREND Jesse Jackson. Are you fucking serious? Holy shit. We will be married well before the baby is born. You're either ignorant to the core, or a complete dumbshit.

I can go on and on about how much worse the muslim faith is than Christianity in soooooo many different aspects, but I'm not even going to bother attempting to explain it to ignorant people with their fucking heads in the sand.

Hey you know what Ralph? If you don't want a kid... don't have sex. It's pretty simple.

Is that one better, Mindia? I can spend 5 minutes and find other examples of your hypocrisy - specifically regarding pre-marital sex.

from your 'announcement' thread:

So, in the Christian world, it goes:

    1) Girlfriend
    2) Oops! Pregnant
    3) Fiance!!
    4) Wife
    5) Baby

Correct? I mean, you obviously know the Bible better than we liberal heathens...

Hell, I'm the crazy liberal agnostic, and my method was: GF>Fiance>Wife>Planned Pregnancy. Shit man, did I do it wrong?

Yeah, I wanted this order too:

1. GF
2. WIFE
3. Pregnancy
4. Baby

Well, it didn't work out in that order... and that's a big deal? rofl. What's important is that you realize I'm doing the "right thing," and what I WANT to do since I heard the news of her getting pregnant. You have nothing. Do you know how many guys turn and RUN as soon as they find out they got their girlfriend pregnant? And that's when you get a lot of mindless, senseless, SELFISH and retarded decisions by many women to get an abortion in that situation too. I stand by what I told Ralph... if you don't want a kid, don't have sex. Again, nice try. Keep digging your hole deeper.

Ephesians 5:3 "But among you there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed, because these are improper for God's holy people."

1 Corinthians 6:18-20 "Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body. Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body."

1 Corinthians 6:9-10 "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

1 Corinthians 7:8-9 "Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, as I am. But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion"

Any good Christian knows that sexual immorality in the bible is all put under the broad brush of fornication.

Fornication: Sexual intercourse that is "illicit"; sexual intercourse between a man and woman who are not married to each other

Every mortal sin is forgivable according to the Bible. There isn't a single thing you can do in life that is beyond the scope of Jesus' forgiveness as long as you want to be forgiven. With that in mind, Mindia's out of wedlock love child and pre marital sexual escapades are just as forgivible as Charles Manson's murders. Ironically, if the people that Manson has killed haven't accepted Jesus' forgiveness, they will go to hell whereas he will not.

TBH, I think that Christian forgiveness is a beautiful thing. I may not be Christian, but I think that Christian fundamentals are good, well intentioned and that for something as unselfish as forgiveness to be possible no matter how negative the act was is a wonderful thing. That tells me that Jesus' ultimate quality, which is God's ultimate quality, is tolerance.

With that being said, don't misinterpret anything that Mindia says as Christian. Being Christian doesn't mean you're necessarily acting Christian. The foundation of Christianity if you understand it properly is forgiveness and understanding and Erik, as much as I consider you a friend, you taint your religion by representing it with your endless fingerpointing and bias. That's Erik thats being an asshat. That's not Christianity. Jesse Jackson the Christian didn't cheat on his wife. Jesse Jackson the man did. He's as susceptible to that behavior as anyone else who's done that. Being a reverend doesn't change that. He doesn't love his god any less, he just fucked up.

That's my 2 cents anyways. Believe it or not I do have a pretty firm grasp on understanding religion even if I don't represent any specific faith.
