I still actively play MTG 2x a week... started in 1998-99 with Urza's Saga. Even after all this time it's still such a great game.
For those of you who have played since the good old days and are looking to pick up the game again, the Commander variant comes highly recommended. You basically pick a legendary creature as your "commander," and build a 100 card deck: limit only 1 copy of any card in the deck (no duplicates, besides basic lands), and the cards can only be in the color of the commander. You start at 40 instead of 20 life. You can play the commander card as if it were in your hand, and each time it dies it costs an additional (2) extra to play. The way the decks are constructed really slows down the games, and let's you play all the wacky and bomby cards that didn't make the cut for competitive tournaments, and it is extremely multiplayer friendly.
They just released precon commander decks that are really good for getting right into it and/or using as a basic framework to add your own stuff into.
