My guess right now is this will be far closer than 2008, but Obama will take it in a squeaker due to the lack of charisma from Romney. The GOP is far better poised for 2016 with Marco Rubio or Paul Ryan. If Ryan were on the top of the ticket, the GOP would probably win this year, since his appeal is more broad than Romney's despite being far more conservative. It's sort of the reverse of Obama who is a more traditional liberal, but far more likeable than many others.
The GOP will continue to hold the house, the Donkeys will hold the Senate, and we'll have gridlock which I actually prefer over bad legislation from either party. I do think an Obama second term will be far better as he won't be as beholden to his base and can focus more on pragmatic legislation and deal making. The best thing that could happen to Obama is if Harry Reid is ousted as Majority leader and he works on developing more of a friendship with Boehner. It wouldn't hurt if Cantor and Pelosi were hit by a bus, either.
p.s. Mindia, discussions would be far better if you tried to take the high road a bit more. I respect being passionate but debates are always better when one follows Luke 6:31 more, and Exodus 21:24 less.
What saves a man is to take a step. Then another step.
