My opinions on WOW. I don't think it'll be the EQ killer.

My PVP character is a Troll Shaman.. Shaman does not seem to be a great grouping class IMO, in comparison to Priests.

I'll probably go Priest just to be something different.

The more I see of WoW, and the more I read about it, the less interested I am. I know I will def play EQ2, but I don't think I'm going to bother wasting the money on WoW... I really didn't care for Starcraft and I really didn't like Diabalo. I'm just not a big fan of Blizzard products... I thought that WoW would be different, but again... I'm just don't think I'm interested anymore.

I have enough to do in real life and EQ2 will take plenty of my free time - I won't have the time for a second game.

Disclaimer: dont read this.

Whatever WoW does, Its going to be pretty cool I think... anyone that has played MU online... well,... think of the worst aspects of that game.... that is pretty much what WoW is facing in a subtle way. Long running distances, static mobs just pathing around, stupid quests, no real named mobs anywhere outside of instances, too many instances (mu didn't have instanes tho)

also, everything in wow is a stupid quest. There are ZERO, ABSOLUTELY ZERO dungeons with any desirable loot that aren't instanced... That alone speaks alot... what were the devs smoking

so yay, im at teh lvl cap, and now Were going to collect 22 more shiny penis statues for teh kest. so stupid.

Ok, theres a bit of lore... but its so monotonous, who is going to bother... Gets to the point of, "hurry up and scroll this quest text by so I can press accept". .. then look at the name of the item or person, go out to thottbot, type it in, look at the map, guide your character there then spend an hour collecitng xp and items for the quest which doesn't even give you the xp you gained while collecting the items.. and that was after 35 minutes of travelling.

I dont know what WoW will look like. But I do know what to look out for when making my decision.

I want to play it, sure. But with excessive instancing, static mobs, lack of named, lack of low/mid/high end raid, lack of level resitricted 'public raid mobs' in non instanced areas that anyone above x level cannot attack, shortage of creative occurances in the world, lack of proper quest xp, lack of class variation, lack of anti griefing code that is done keenly, I wouldn't be playing it.

Why would I play it right now? only because i quit eq, and im in beta. thats the only reason.

Blizzard has no content integrated that encourages competition.

I'm afraid if they finally spew something out, it will simply be some high level only shit that is basically a shitty mock job of everquest where the low and mid levels have absolutely zero reason to log in minus levelling. What kind of retards....

.... so any bliz tools that read this... do us all a favor,... low, mid, high level raid content that isn't instanced, is level resitricted, increase quest xp, add voice to all quest dialoge (bright idea here...hire your fanbase to do the characters. its simple. just do it. (o you wont because you suck.)), define class progression, increase drop rates of quest items -in particular ones that require collect 30, the mobs are 10 seconds walks apart, and drop one in 5 (dont really feel like kililng 750 mobs in this group with half the time being running from lightly populated areas to other lightly populated area)-, do us all a favor; ... dungeons.. you know what those are? sure, the instanced things right? wrong. public dungeons.. giant non instances empires underground. these are some of the requirements at this point to make a successful game. I won't log in to get teh super winner loot in some gay ass instanced dungeon.

Also, what do you think high end content is going to be??? named mobs in instanced and sometimes public areas that require 24 people to kill?

Why even play the game then???? LOW MID HIGH END PUBLIC NON INSTANCED DUNGEONS, CAMPS, NAMEDS, AND RAIDS. THIS IS WHAT WILL MAKE WORLD OF WARCRAFT ALIVE. ^^^^ THESE ARE WHAT PEOPLE WANT

Sorry, I read it.

What you are wanting is EQ. You =! People.

WOW is in beta and is a good game. We'll see how it does on release..

There ARE loot dropping named mobs.

Names in instances drop loot. Most places you'd consider a dungeon are instanced, but perhaps not all.

I play on PvE server (alliance), gnome rogue Vreeta, say hi if you like.

Some quests are REALLY good, the longest quest in the game currently
does not involve instances at all and has some REALLY nice loot. In the end it gets you a couple nice trinkets (Shard of Afrasa and Demon's Blood), a 10 sta / 10 spirit neck and a 36 dps 1 handed weapon (or a better dps 2h staff)... and of course whatever incidental loot that might drop randomly on the way. Had some funny steps too, like when you get sent to get er, crystallized giant poop.

I see WoW as EQ done right.

FOr example. Through the use of instances, you can get that "big raid encounter" with just 5 people. This is not sitting on your ass and wiping out raids, im talking about fun fun fights, puzzles, scripts.

I see Lyion getting bent because you kill stuff and get loot, oh and level.

If you want to try a game that does not do this. try "The Sims" online. You can make pizza and cyber with 12 yr old girls in virutal bordellos for cash.

Other than that... well every single last mmorpg is killing mobs to get items. Its how it is implemented that really counts.

I'm not bent at all. I enjoy WOW and I'm in beta. Levels and loot are cool, the point of my earlier posts <which I know ya didnt read, I know you and your A.D.D. Jang> was that I hoped someone would do a LIVE, dynamic world with real change and meaning. Blizzard has the talent, but they went the safe cash route, which is understandable.

WOW will do very well. Its a great product. It will not, however, kill EQ or DAOC or the other established games very much, just like a new car with better features isn't going to make people go buy it..

its really hard to explain till you have been there. Take uldaman for example (show of hands all peeps who done uldaman).

The final fight in that dungeon is EPIC. It is beyond epic. The first time you see it. you have an idea what you have to do, and it makes you shit yousrself.

Tigole is doing alot of the dungeons in WoW. Hate LoS or no, Tigole did understand whatr was fun and what wa sfuckign boring, it shows in his dungeons.

When you get together a 5 man group and do an instance to the end. You will KNOW you are doing something special. Something custom designed and not a run of the mill "camp the boss mob for lewtz"

If single group content is this fantastic, I honestly am drooling to see what raid type content willb e like.

Again, whats new and different? You are basically hyping something without substance like a little fangirl bitch.

I'm playing WOW. I like it. Its definitely better than EQ, but what it isn't is revolutionary that I can tell...

I've done instanced dungeons and various places, but mostly on the Horde side, which may be my problem.. Since my 35 Warrior and 20 Priest are both Horde.

You may be right Jang and it may be amazing at the endgame, but I haven't seen it yet with any of my characters. What I do see is a very well made, but not polished game that does a lot of things very welll, but doesn't break the mold at all...

i have no reply for the endgame. I can only look at what they have done for dungeons

Lets go back to uldaman. The final fight you have this giant room full of roughly 50 statues.

Dead center you have this big Statue of Rallos Zek sized mofaka.

You start the script. The statue animates. (with a cool sound and graphice to go along with it). Then the rest of the room begins to animate. Certain mobs heal the statue, certain mobs attack you. Some mobs attack for a bit then return to statues.

When you finally kill the big guy. you get your loot, you get to ransack his treasure room for some more loots. Then you find his "Time Machine" style holograph machine that gives you some very cool cool backgrounds about WoW stuff.

This isnt end game this is just a dungeon.

So maybe I sound like a fanboi, but godamn you get the red carpet treatment in dungeons I cannot wait to see the end game.

Just dicking around in there killed EQ for me.

Last night Holise and I went on some quest to kill 3 named dudes (Guns of something) we ended up having to kill a bunch of humans at this costal fort (man that place was cool) and we got ambushed by a level 27 human warrior... what a great experience that was!

Anyways, the higher level I get the more fun I start to have... this game is truly epic.

BTW I’m 18.5 now wuwu

Was gonna do that very same quest today Goose. Can I solo it at 17?

If you take it slow you MIGHT be able to... what makes it hard is you can get multi pulls a lot with a healer mixed in that make life difficult for the lone warrior.

The one named capt. is like level 20.

I got some happy pants as the reward!

I'll be busy till late tonight.

But I'm planning on playing till late into the morning.

I solo pretty well with Defence Disc and I can pull with my uber shotgun, casters are a real pain for me though.
