What would be the ultimate rogue twink-gear setup?

A few specifics:

What haste item should i get?

What would be a good weapon progression? Ie: are there any sick weapons with a great proc at level 1, and when should I upgrade, and what to?

What focii or right clicky items are essential or nice to have?

Oh, and whats better to plevel with: cleric or BST?

dropable atk items (which rogues should concern about) are also expensive or have a lvl requirement so I dont think you should be lookin at ultimate yet

If you're not going to blow most of your plat on a WDH/CoF combo, then get a CCOM for haste.

For PLing, I would use the BST since it can slow, something that will be helpful at higher levels to keep the BST alive with little attention paid to him

You can either buy a bunch of DS potions and pull a train, or you can have the BST pull a train and pound each mob down to almost no hps, then zone so rogue can finish the kills.

Really, because I started playing again recently(because I was so fucking bored I didn't know what else to do. EQ still sucks, but it's nice playing and chatting with folks I missed), and prices have actually been on the rise for a lot of shit since this spring (which was already high from the madness that began last fall, but it had begun to normal out somewhat).

Granted, some stuff is definitely cheaper. Seems like "monk gear" especially is getting pretty cheap (which is great for beasts), and now that they've fixed damage on recommended level weapons (damn their eyes!) those are really coming down in price too (non-rec. lvl weapons seem to be going back up though, due to demand). Golden Wraps have fallen from 60-65K to like 20-25k since spring. Gravedigger's Armwraps are like 25k, down from 45-50'ish they used to be. Pristine Bejeweled gaunts are still kind of pricey it seems, but not as bad as they used to be.

Maybe if I weren't such a twink-loving gimp I could focus on bettering my main to the point where he could actually win some of that shit for himself, but whatever.


Prices havn't been "normal" since like Spring '03.
I mean, really. Fungi 70k? What the fuck? They were 60 6 months ago, and like 35 a year before that. First fungi I ever bought was 15k, and that was right before Luclin came out.

Kind of like the Circlet of Shadow I bought for 9k... whish I had held onto that thing.

Anyway, sounds like you've got plenty of money to burn. Get a CCoM, Fungi, Hsraga, and the best non-rec. lvl gear you can find unless you're planning on busting into 50+ in a few days time.

Some good non-rec. lvl stuff might be silver chitin wristbands (15ac 40hp 5str 5dex) if you can't outfit yourself in something like BoB's. Mrylo Bp (acrylic chain tunic has decent ac and hp too, and they're only like 4k, but the stats are a bit more shaman/ranger friendly I think). Peerless Dragon legs (good ac, but lacks raw hp) are decent, but there may be better out there for non-rec. lvl stuff. Grimling contraption for face would be cool if you could find one (hell, with your money, pick up a Barb mask for like 150k. Best droppable mask evar) maybe Lodi belt for AoB, since you'd have head haste with CCoM... Grey Flesh arms (16ac 25hp 5 or 6 str/dex/sta), Clattering bone necklace, Barbed dragon boots, velium fire wedding rings. You know, the usual suspects for melee twinking. All non-rec. lvl, and it won't cost an absolute fortune. Most of that stuff is only like 4-9k apiece.

If rec. lvl gear doesn't bother you, then the bazaar is your oyster. Go nuts. Gear today is insane, and chain gear seems relatively cheap for the most part, just have to deal with rec. lvls on most of the good stuff.

Wow, yeah, in that case, since you've got the entire 330 to spend without fungi worries, definitely snag a barb mask (150k), CCoM (80k'ish). Leaves you with 100k or so left for the rest. You could buy most of the stuff on my list for that, and have much better str (str adds heavily to ATK, which is to be your new god, and his str is pathetic 93? yikes.)/sta/hp/ac than Tyrano's gear.
I'd also suggest an LSoEE or something for offhand, but that's just me. Prefer the extra stats it brings to the table over that parrying blade. /shrug

Horn's pretty debatable, I think. Really comes down to how fast you plan on getting up closer to the rec. lvl of a cheaper, nicer piercer like Gomdurig or something of that sort. Droppable piercers today are ungodly, just have to deal with the rec. lvl.

Suppose you could always start out with horn, then pawn it off again for better once you get close to the rec. lvl of your upgrade of choice, but then you have to dick around in the bazaar, waiting for someone to take if off your hands.

Also, saw someone auc'ing Grimling Contraption (8ac 50hp, regen1, 8sta) for 6k today. Not bad, but Barb mask is >>> better.

Belt of the Great turtle might still be pretty pricey too though. Still like 20-25k?

You play a Nec, right? 65? If so, much of the stuff on my list there would be easily campable by you, solo, were you so inclined.

Spent much of the last week camping twink gear solo with my 65 beast, and he's only bazaar geared with barely any AA. Necro with equivaent gear/aa could do things I couldn't handle alone with ease.

Oh, yeah, and pick yourself up a Pernicity or Hiero cloak, if you're not doing back haste (CoF) instead of the CCoM.

I hate casters that are melee noobs, oh wait I am one too.

Str capped at 255, atk will continue to raise based on weapon skill and offensive skills. Vengence is GUD OK ! Its about as necessary as FT is to a caster and yes it raises atk.
Weapons with level recommendations on them now do the damage that is shown. If it is a 1/20, thats what you get til you get to the level.

ok as far as that magleo goes forget most of it the horn, ccom, and mask are ok i guess i dont much know prices on nameless anymore as i dont goto bazaar that often forget about the mylo for a while as u wont be able 2 click it for some time go bracer of might and th bracer w/dex and agi from UP dont remember name of top of my head. if u got a better haste item then ccom then get a white dragon scale helm. shrunken goblin earing for sure . for offhand if u can find em the steel-laced aged snake whip player made 12/18 1hs some stats and type4 and type7 no rec lvl(got mine for 3k). silver plated legs are descent but the dragon ones are where u should think. rings go the 65 hp velium rings till u can get the rec lvl stuff like valor. rings. well thats just a few things i can think of atm got a sinus headache so not gonna runn off 2 long and patching beta atm should be done

This is very good advice. In the process of leveling a rogue up myself and from experience I can tell you weapons, weapons , weapons, weapons, and then some haste and then some attack. Try to avoid spending to much on your offhand though since if your spending 300k+ your prolly gonna do his epic overnight once he gets high enough. And yes you want to do the epic hard to pass on 41% haste and I think its 40 attack in the offhand. At least until ya start raiding.

All in all I have found playing a rogue to be relaxing and boring at the same time. Meaning if your in a crappy mood and don't care to pay much attention play your rogue, otherwise play your main. Rogues just don't have a let going on in a fight if the tank is worth a shit.
