upcoming patch, the nerf predictions

lets see how close we can get to what really happens!


1) all + damage and + heal items will go from straight up flat bonuses to % based bonuses. This is to prevent scorch mages and shadowpriests from doing insane dps(or healing) for little mana

2) warrior charge will get some sort of nerf to balance them in pvp. balancing a game based off of pvp is homo, but oh well

3) rogue cold blood talent will be changed from a 3 min timer to a 5 or 6 min timer. This will be done to appease the whiney mages who are getting cold blood/ambushed on the pvp server.

4) more offensive power will be removed from priests. more healing power will be put in to try to force them into the EQ cleric role, and make more priests quit

5) random stealth nerf to warlock probably soulstones. Right now people sitll have reasons to invite warlocks to groups. Hopefully these willbe removed.

6) hunter ice trap and shoot while moving will be nerfed in some way to balance(nerf) them in pvp.


7) even after talents and a few more improvments, druids will still bitch (i think they are fucking awsome myself)

Surely after copying EQ and fixing so many bad design decisions by Verant, the LOS/Blizzard dev people wouldn't go down the same road of group dependency and class inter relations that SOE did, would they?

i like wow, and im not tight with anyone.. nobody likes me, i am a stupid jackass.


ok how close ws I so far:

1) i was close
2) dead on
3) close. They did not gimp the cold blood with ambush, they just nerfed stealth so rogues cant ambush
4) very close.. with no mana regen 5 sec after any spell priests really cannot afford to heal, throw a few nukes and heal again. they must heal and then wait 5 sec and them some for thier next heal.

Just from limited information from the korean server, it seems this patch was filled to the brimm with nice stealth nerfs. To be honest, I dont mind nerfs if they are needed. Like mages were before they removed invis.

Last time I logged on shadow priests were heavily overpowered. The amount of cheap cheap damage I could unleash with my shadow priest was sickening. The + damage items were overpowered. But I felt priests should keep them. In every mmorpg "group" balance is based off of healing a tank. So to be balanced you need a tank and a healer. In general tanks are fun. You hit shit and use your stuff to get mobs to hit you back. In most games the "healer" class is not so fun. Its a bit stressfull and the one last thing people are always looking for to round out their group is a healer. It is not a class for everyone.

So the way I saw it was, if priests were grossly overpowered then more people would play them and we could always have the needed "healer" for our balanced "heal the fucking tank" style group.

To be bit more clear where I am coming from. In EQ, the raid guilds have practically an open invite for all top level clerics. In WoW, the most common thing to see in a public channel for 55 groups is, "BRD/Temple group looking for healer"

When 55 priests log in they are bombarded with tells for groups non stop, until they are grouped. No other class is like that.

Initially when i tried out a priest as an alt, I thoguht to myself, "Holyshit they gonna fix healer rarity by making the class offensive AND supportive."

A few nerfs later, all I have seen is priests being pushed inot the EQ cleric role.


The next beef that I fucking despise about WoW nerfing is when they nerf something that works right, to make the broken shit seem more attractive. Ill give a history of rogue nerfs.


1) cheap shot had energy increased from last push (not patch) The reason was that ALL other opening moves from stealth sucked DICK. There was zero fucking reason to ever use any other opening move other than cheap shot. It was nto because cheap shot was overpowered it was the other opening moves ate rancid donkey penis. The damage on them was ridiculious, and the energy costs way way too high. Blizzard Solution, nerf cheap shot. It just smells like SOE when stuff like that happens.

This latest patch has things of that aroma. There is a big debate withthe rogues right now, Sinister strike vs backstab. With ridiculious high energy costs and over the top talent point requirments, backstab falls short of sinister strike. Add the fact that even without talents it is questionable for a rogue to use daggers over other weapons due to the fact ambush and backstab, while are nice. are not great compared to sinister strike.

So instead of making the from behind moves more attractive by improving them, they nerf the competition instead.

SOE stink imho, uncreative and overall lame.

So Lyion, even though these were my friends in EQ, that doesnt mean I have to be a mindless follower about the some of the stupidity that goes on. I am free with both my praise and critisism.

I cant think of anyone in the history of eq who deserved a ks at that time, more than murkyl.


oh, as for nerf predictions, they did an across the board assraping to rogues. Not a single aspect of rogue play went un nerfed. There is 0 reasons, absolutly zero reasons to invite a rogue to your group over a mage now, its nuts. There are next to 0 reasons to invite a rogue over a warrior. You are much much much better off just grabbing one of those two classes over a rogue for added dps. its pretty messed up.

With the casting nerf the priests are being thrown more into the EQ cleric role. You only regen mana if you haven't casted a spell for 5 seconds. Priests used to be able to throw a heal then nuke or dot then throw another heal...now they have to resort to heals only if it comes to a long fight.

Ill probably go Warrior then, or Mage if I feel like being a damage whore. But I like being the class that is in "control" of the group.

I.E. Warrior/Cleric from EQ.

They are probably the most fun to play at the moment...The only thing they have in common with the EQ shaman is that they are secondary healers (low end secondary healers in WoW). Shaman can wear mail armor at level 40.

can pull leveling up and can pull most outdoor stuff. Cannot really rely on sap withthe stealth nerfs and on top of it the nerf to sap. Finally once you hit around 55 and start doing appropriate level dungeons, you no longer can even do that.


The stuff hits so hard that a failed sap, or sapping and appearing usually equals death. a priest cannot afford to throw an early heal on you. They will get agro and die. Previously in BRD if i missed my sap i would vanish and try again. Sometimes I got lucky and sometimes i died. I was fine with it. Now add another 10% failure rate (for like NO FUCKING reason) nerfed MoD, nerfed stealth detection(easier to detect). Do not even bother pulling.


As a rogue what you have to offer for groups at high end are basically dps thats lesser than a mages and comparable to a damage specced warriors.


To keep group desirability up rogues cant be in the position they are in now. Pre Patch we were considered for a 4th slot. As all groups would start with mage priest war, or not start at all. Actually let me revamp .. BRD groups would usually (not always) insist on a paladin as well. Since the really tough stuff deeper in pretty much required back up healing and a backup resser was the bomb.


So Rogues compete for the 5th slot. We place 3rd. Warlocks hunters and druids have it worse off, but the recent nerfs to rogues hurt rogues and did not help hunters, locks and druids. They helped mages and second warriors get groups easier.


Not gonna say you are gonna be groupless if you play these classes, but you are gonna have a seriously fucking harder time than the holy trinity. This recent patch made it even more pronounced.

I don't have a problem getting groups because we all play together every night. We basically flew through SM our first time ever and got tired and logged for the night. Yeah the stealth nerf sucks but I know they'll change it again so I deal with it for now. Distract works well enough. Don't think we ever got more than 2 mobs last night with me pulling. (other than the groups of 3 ghosts).
