No, I was simply comparing WOW Shaman with EQ Shaman. Not WOW Shaman to EQ Bards.

To me since I've got a shitload of time as an EQ Bard (Taozhe) and Shaman (Hazakiah), as well as a WOW Shaman the EARLY design to me seems more like an EQ Shaman.

Note that DESIGN does not mean identical SKILLS, just how the class is setup.

OMG A LVL20 SHM? THAT IS A SHITLOAD OF TIME!

Maybe while you were shitloading all that time in EQ you failed to realize that the "design" or "vision" of EQ shamans were as buffers and debuffers, not healers/offense.

Lyion...the WoW shaman is basically a melee class, period.

EQ shaman was a healing/debuffing class, period

yes shamans can heal but theres no way in hell I'd do an instance of appropriate level with a shaman main healer

In EQ you could do an LDON with a shaman main healer.

So no, I don't think the designs are the same, the EQ shaman was a healing debuffing class the WoW shaman is a melee class.

The WOW development staff thinks differently.
From http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/cla ... aman.shtml

The Shaman is a secondary Healing class (to the Priest) with a fun assortment of spells and options. The Shaman is especially liked by party members for its Healing and beneficial totems. The Shaman has up to four types of totems: Air, Earth, Fire, and Water. An important part of playing the Shaman is figuring out which totem is best to use in each situation.

Maybe that sounds like an EQ bard to you, but not to me.

And if you think an EQ Shaman was just a debuffer/buffer, you are wrong. You just said they could primary heal at times, Taxx, and they had a LOT of options. It was a secondary healer with offense, similar to the WOW Shaman from what I've seen.

I guess you would know best what the role of a shaman is in WoW, Lyion.

Damn straight.

Just because you don't know how to play a healing class, don't equate that to others.

I'd love to group with you.

No folks, we dont get stoneskin totem because I blew HALF my mana on a heal that the druid could have done for far less mana.

Shaman heals are used in downtime and when your primary healer is dying.

I usually just let the healer die and hear Taxx bitch about me later.

I have a stronger heal that I never use Taxx. It takes too long to cast and wastes too much mana. I only use it after I rezz someone...I guess I use it a lot then.

here's the bandage i use

So if we're talking downtime healing...shaman still comes out looking like a melee class

And I just logged into the game for the first time this patch...DAMN AM I IMPRESSED. To me, the graphics look much nicer (maybe because I have nvidia?) with bloom turned off I get 8 FPS more. The map in Orgrimmar is fucking awesome. The new UI enhancements are much more 2005 rather than 1999 looking.

My daggers went from 22.1 dps to 26.5

My agility DOUBLED, my AC went up about 200 points. A LOT of the blue items got their stats changed (some better some worse...my leggings got much better, Dragon's Blood Necklace sucks now)...I'm anxious to see what you think.

I gained like 250 raw armor from that patch... even though they nerfed my cloak from 93 ac down to 26.

Just means mobs are gonna get the same boost.

Remember how much people were cheering last time ac went up? Then they whined they werent hitting as much.

Haven't had an issue so far... but then again I've been working on a new technique which involves sundering the mob's armor in defensive stance and then going full out dps.

Since I changed my build, I'm only getting hit for about 5 seconds the entire time the mob is alive, AC hardly matters to me...I could solo naked if I had to.
