Windows Protection Error when starting Windows ME....

Postby ValanthaStormweaver » Thu Oct 07, 2004 10:15 am

Every time I try to start Windows ME now I get the blue screen of death with the message: Windows Protection Error. You need to restart your computer. System Halted.

It lets me boot up in Safe Mode fine. I can also boot up into Windows 2000 fine. I've tried doing a system restore from 14 different restore dates available and all of them, upon restart, give me the blue screen of death with the same message and then it reboots me to safe mode where it tells me that my system could not be restored and to pick another date.

It just started doing this yesterday. I haven't upgraded any drivers in the last week or done any windows updates. Everything was running fine until yesterday. EQ did a client crash, my computer locked up and BAM, blue screen of death.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can fix this? It won't let me reinstall ME from 2000, tells me I need to boot into 98 or 95 which I don't have.

Any help would be appreciated.

Ill save everyone the trouble although I used ME for years with no problems...

"your problem is you use Windows ME"

UNLESS you have updated your system restore, your native ME system restore is FUCKED off the bat. It wont work. Just a heads up.
