i was a oldskool guy dec '99 (retired 03 sometime)- tired of that stupid shadowbane and restarted eq.

but this game is so freakin huge now- all the new stuff is unbelivable. its very confusing with all the new planes and flags, the disc changes, interface options, AA stuff- and thats just a litle bit of it. its VERY intimidating.

gone are the days of just gettin to 38??? and joining a pickup hate raid.

all ramblin aside is it worth it to come back- to be any good id have to start over from level 1 and relearn old stuff and all that new #@##!

or just wait till eq2?

will eq part 1 even be around much longer- leemee know what ya think.

Well, if you have the right frame of mind, EQ is a wonderful game.

But, if you are overtly concerned with keeping up with the Jones', you'll be miserable.

I've been playing a few hours here and there and having a great time.

EQ2 and WOW won't be released commercially for 6 more months, at least. If you want something now, and don't need to 'win' then grab a copy and have fun.

I would have to say no. Between the E-bayers, Plat duper's and all the other misc. cheats that are out there and the fact that you'd be feeling pressed to get to level 65 to join a big guild and do "Big guild things" Honestly, if you've never played before and you wanted to pick the game up to see what its like I could see it being fun to play but if you've played before and tried to start all over after all the additions and changes that have been made I don't think it would be near as much fun as it was the first time...

But thats just me...

Hmm... the game is so different now, eh? Well according to everyone else, you can be gone for 3 years and come back and still play at tip top efficiency and skill. Ask Lyions - he was still a game expert after not playing for years despite all of the changes.

IMO, getting back in now is like jumping on the Titanic when the bow is already turning down into the water... it's a little late to enjoy the "pleasure cruise". Do yourself a favor and just wait for another game to take a chunk of the market - L2, WoW, etc.

All the negative posts above me to the contrary, I just came back after about 3 years and found my interest in the game renewed.

Yes, I did have to start a new character to play until I remembered how to play again properly but then I was able to move back into my old character with minimal difficulty, but then again I had only made it to 48 before I quit.

All the changes really make it almost a new game. Give it a whirl...you might like it again.

Sabux Faheed?!

If you are who I think you are... How's life, Bro? Tried reactivating your account yet? Mine was still intact in October from cancelling last spring before we took our little jaunt to the gulf (didn't try reactivating Lar's account though).
Give it a shot, and look me up. If I'm not on this fella, give Jurazik a look. I'm on a lot of the time.

I'll keep an eye out for you in game.

You are obviously bored...you might as well play eq! Sure the semi-higher end is complicated a little...but who cares?!? By the time you get to that level of the game you will know what you are doing. And if you don't...then you won't need to know that stuff cause noone will guild you anyway! LOLOL There are still some of us who play for the fun of it...to test your skills, to make friends...to have something to do besides getting hammered every weekend. It is worth it! You don't forget how to play...it is like riding a bike. It will come back to you and in a couple weeks you will be as good as new. Starting a new character isn't ncessary, but could be fun! Make a beastlord if you do. People seem to dig those~

So Much hate. No s in Lyion.

I had no trouble immediately getting back into the swing of things. There is a ton of content, but the game is fundamentally the same, just much, much easier. The game has a few new quirks, but its still EQ. Levelling is cake, too, and there is a lot less skill involved in grouping.

Again, if you want to 'win', you'll hate EQ. However, if you play for fun and not to compete and amass AAs, gear, and stuff there is a lotta good times to be had.

I'm playing a Beastlord as well as my rogue and really having fun.

what up sabux, i remember you from back in the day

IMO it's not worth starting again now unless you REALLY want to play eq and not just get a gaming fix, if you just want new gaming content wait for WoW.

there is a lot of new content in eq now unfortunately like previous posters said much of it is populated by ebayers, and the high end content now isn't all that fun anyway

Fun

Postby Aurind » Wed Apr 07, 2004 11:21 am

I was gone for a while and just recently returned. I have found the game to be way more fun than ever. So many things for you to do now it's not funny. And starting a new char could be very enjoyable. They have newbie armor quest for all race/class combinations now that makes getting those first 10 levels actually a lot of fun. Also, you don't have to wait to make coin now... you can have 1k plat by 10 really easily if you try at all. You just have to kill the right things while you're leveling. Also, LDoN makes it so you can just get on for a few hours and actually accomplish something. Plus, PoP makes travel easy... so you're not wasting the whole night trying to get to where your group is and then playing 30 minutes once you get there. No more shouting for a treehugger. Plus, they've added a bunch of other great features too. Like find. Say you start a dark elf necro, and you'll looking for your spells... no more wondering around wasting your life looking for them... you hit find and choose necro spells.. and a magical path appears in front of you that you can follow right to the guy your looking for. Others call this dumbing down, I call it not WASTING MY LIFE! I have better things to do in the game than waste my time trying to find something stupid. They've also made it so you don't loose xp or have to loot your corpse until level 11 now. Which is a great thing when you're just starting a new char and getting the feel for it. All in all, the game today is so much better than even a year ago its just not funny. Got on, enjoy yourself, and not as much of bullsh&t... opps.. "The Vision" I mean.
