Get your very own baby dragon

Postby Martrae » Sat Oct 23, 2004 12:37 pm

Inside each person lives two wolves. One is loyal, kind, respectful, humble and open to the mystery of life. The other is greedy, jealous, hateful, afraid and blind to the wonders of life. They are in battle for your spirit. The one who wins is the one you feed.

Item sales are supply and demand. As long as someone doesn't want to spend the time to accomplish something ingame, there will be a market for it.

Definitely not my cup of tea, though.

I think its in reference to spending an extra 40 bucks to get a baby dragon.

It essentially is paying for an item.

Only if you buy the collector's edition for that very reason. And in that case, if you do, you're an idiot

What about the j-boots (although, to be fair, they are somewhat nerfed)? Are those for all who pre-order, or just for the CE?

Doesnt have to be that very reason. Its there as an incentive regardless. Sony is selling items.

surprised you dont get this part Fin, especially since I seem to remember you saying how lame it was to sell in game items/plat.

I said to buy in-game items and plat, I actually make a sizable chunk of cash selling :)

And I get it, I just dont agree with how you're putting it.

Collector item novelties are a bit different than selling individual 'attainable' items.

It is a business, afterall, and I don't have an issue with this, even if I'm against individual item sales.

WOW has a collector's edition too, with a special pet you can get if you buy. WOW pets are noncombat, dunno how EQ2s are. All they are for is looks, they have no game functionality whatsoever. The pets you can get for the WOW collector's edition are either a miniature Diablo, or a Zergling. They definitely are NOT giving something like the Jboots. That's just stupid. Items that actually give you an in-game advantage should not be sold for real money, period.

Of course, the WOW Collector's Edition also comes with a 200+ page hardcover book of art by the blizzard artists, a behind the scenes DVD, signed manual, official soundtrack on CD, cloth maps, and a 10-day "guest pass" to give to a friend.

Here's a pic of the pets.

I personally dont really care about item sales either way. It never bothered me much.

I just found it ironic that Sony seemed to be leaning in that direction a bit with EQ2, after taking such a hard line stance against it in EQ.

over powering or not, its still in game shit for real life cash.

You're focusing on a very minor feature of the Collector's box set...

If they just offered a pet, Fin, it'd be no argument whatsoever, as there'd be no in-game tangible benefit to buying the collector's set other than some graphical oooh-aaahs from other people. As it is now, though, you are effectively gimping your character if you DON'T buy it, as we all are quite aware of just how potent jboots are.

The j-boots are pretty much useless unless you are talking about the first 10 levels as a nonscout class without a scout to group with.

And you get 1 jboots ever. Not 1 for each character.

Also ince kiting is out being able to run almost as fast as a scout isn't really an advantage.

Unless you suck and need to run away all the time...

Jboots wont make a difference on your character past level 10-15 guaranteed.

Anyway, I don't want a dragon, I want an undead dwarf pet to keep in my house. that way I know he will never be destroyed and his dwarf soul will be tormented for eternity.
