Who Has Slow?

Postby Langston » Thu Nov 04, 2004 9:43 pm

Two questions:

1) Does slow matter in WoW like it did in EQ?

2) If so, who is the primary slower, secondary slowers, etc?

Doesn't matter much, closest you'd see is frost type attacks.

Snare matters somewhat, but lots of classes have it.

Warlocks have slow. But it doesn't seem to matter much. Kizzy got the talent upgraded slow so she'll have to tell you how good it works.

I have it upgraded to a 30% slow. It does make a difference. Last night is a perfect example. I was soloing level 37 elites, if I kept the curse on them, I could finish them with about 100 hit points left, if I didn't use it, I would die when he had just a smidge of life left. I am sure there are other factors, but there you go.

How many HPs did you start the fight with?

Wow, so slow is not nearly as powerful as in EQ then. Is it really a 30% slow? Do MOBs partially mitigate it?

got a 40 warlock and never knew that curse of exhaustion was combat speed as well as movement speed. it is not very prevalent. there is a trinket that slows combat speed for 5 sec or so with a 10 min ( i think) cool down, and a few weapons that proc a slow. they are not very noticable.

on the other had there are two tugurs for casting speed that are most devistating. the crippling poison for rogues and the curse of tongues for walrocks.

this game though overall focuses on straight up damage mitigation for melee combat. Armor is very noticable in this game as is alot of the other mitigation type spells (curse of weakness and that stoneskin totem)

Well I just re-read the Warlock talents, I never played one other than tinkering around on Kizzy's once in a while. It seems like it is only a movement speed decreaser. I could have sworn I saw something that said decreases by 30% or something but I guess not. The only other thing I see that decreases attack speed is Improved Enslave Demon.

Mages can slow movement with some of their frost spells (frost bolt. cone of cold, etc) and their Frost and Ice Armor can slow movement and attack speed when a MOB hits them.

That makes more sense. Silv's example was probably due to just random luck since an actual 30% slow should have had a lot more of an effect than what she described.
