You have to have confidence as a quarterback, if not you become hesitant to throw the ball, and then you nailed like a cheap 5 $ hooker, when you hold onto the ball for that split second longer.
There's a big difference between trying to fire the ball in a tight spot, and ignoring all your coaching and moving down your read progressions
They deserved to lose that game because of the way he kept trying to hit the homerun instead of checking down to the guys who were wide open 8-10 yards down the field
don't get me wrong, I hate QB's who on 3rd and 8 throw a 2 yard pass, but with 10 minutes left in the fourth, it's not a big deal to throw 7 yard outs(as opposed to 40+ yarders)

I agree there 100%. They were trying for homeruns in the second quarter down by 2 touchdowns. Alot of 3 and outs make for a tough game to win. It really surprised me that lovie smith got away from his running game so quickly.

i think everyone on the offensive side was getting a bit big headed with the success they'd been having
offense needs to learn that the path to the superbowl isn't going to be because of spectacular offense, but because of on offense that doesn't turn the ball over

I concur with that also. With a defense like they have, just manage the game. Dont turn the ball over, and you win. EASY. Its a more potent version of Pittsburg last year. With all the stats that are out there right now, Efficiency rating should be the key stat for QB's. Not how many touchdowns or yards you throw for.
The Bears bye week couldnt come at a more perfect time for the Bears. Lovie will deffinatly iron things out. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the teams on Chicago's schedule approach the games now. Watch out for New England.
Switching to the other team now.....did you see Denny Greene blow up at the press conference. Holy shit i would hate to be a player in that locker room after the game, and i would hate to be a player at practices this week. However i would give alot to be a fly on the wall in the lockeroom after that game

I saw his face as they were walking off the field
I can't imagine blowing 2 consecutive 14 pt leads on total team failure
offense didn't move the ball on the ground, so they were forced to throw (which saved a lot of time for the bears)
not to mention the fumbles
special teams couldn't cover a kick, nor make a field goal
defense couldn't hold onto easy interceptions
If the bears had been playing a remotely decent team they would have been killed

The last time I rooted for the Bears...they were doing the Superbowl Shuffle.

The game was great but the announcers suck major balls.

I enjoy the announcers. I think they are a great mix for monday night football. Im going to get some shit for this i know, but i actually like listening to Madden and Michaels though. They are my favorite announcing group.

I really hate the ESPN crew
joe theisman says some retarded shit, and the fucker from that PTI is a useless fucking twat
Altho, I do like really early on when one of them said "I wonder what will happen if the Cardinals blow this 14 pt lead"
foreshadowing baby

The Cardinals wouldn't have lost that game if Dennis Greene let Leinhart keep dumping those short passes instead of running James. James had 36 carries for 55 yards. If he insisted on running than he should get someone to block Urlacher.

No doubt. Tirico is the one guy coming into the season who I thought would be the worst, but he's been suprisingly good.
Theisman has about 2 points the entire game and just repeats them over, and over, and over, and OVER.
Korheiser (spelling?) would be ok if he would just be himself. I think he's buying into it too much that he's supposed to be the "controversial" guy, and throws out stupid comments just to try to be witty (and failing).

that's hard to say
when you throw the ball 4 things can happen, and only 1 of them is good

It would still be better than running a back that average less than half a yard a carry.

Now im not a fan of running the ball ala Marty Ball. But in this situation up 23-10 in the 4th quarter, all they had to do was run the football and they would have won. Example. The "winning" punt return was with 2:48 left in the 4th quarter. Now lets check out the Cardinals play calling in the 4th quarter........
First and 10 at their own 23. First play is a run in the quarter (they got the ball via kickoff after Leinhart was sacked and fumbled for the score. First play a run...perfect. But then, the next play wich would have run the clock down ohhhh 20 more seconds they call a timeout. If they would have just run the ball on this down the clock doesnt stop and then the next play they can run the game clock down more (45 seconds). After the timeout their next 2 snaps.....2 passes....incomplete...incomplete. Stopping the game clock twice more. Just in this series they could have run almost 2 minutes off the clock just by running the ball up the middle for no gain, and still get the same result....a punt.
Next possesion with just under 11:00 minutes left in the game (same score) their possesion went....run play...pass play incomplete, pass incomplete. They could have run another 2 minutes off the clock if they just ran the football. Just those 2 posessions and the punt return never would have happened.
Now granted Edgerin did fumble on a play that i believe should have been whistled dead for stopping of forward progress. 36 carries is WAY too many. Switch it up with JJ Arington, give him alittle of the workload. Not saying he would not have fumbled but 36 is alot, esspecially when the Bears are not being blocked, and you are hitting a wall everytime.
After the fumble they had to go back into moving the ball mode and passing more. At that point you just cant sit on it. But the Bears had turn the ball over SIX (yeah 6) freaking times. The offense did not get very many first downs. Make them beat you, by running and giving them the ball.

exactly my point
that's how the steelers tend to win a lot of games. get a lead then take the air out of the ball
(same as martyball, except you don't give up a late minute touchdown to lose, heh)

With Marty ball though, he tends to go into this mode WAY to early. Second quarter...early third. Thats too soon. But 4th quarter...absolutly, never attempt another pass. Get that clock to wind down, its not exciting but it will win you football games when you are up by 2 touchdowns in the 4th. At that point the clock is your opponent not the bears in this case.

Bears looked amazing last night. At home i doubt anyone beats them, but they still have afew challenges ahead of them. NY on the road will be a BIG test.

I think as long as they don't get a big ego, and play run first offense, they'll win 14 games np
defense can't get cocky either, and try to single cover someone like Steve Smith

They're playing at St. Louis and at Patriots stadium too I'm pretty sure.

I know week 9 hasn't happened yet but I figure the Bears will smash the Dolphins anyways. What are your guys predictions against Eli and the Giants?

The Bears' opponents so far:
Green Bay 3-4
Detroit 1-6
Minnesota 4-4
Seattle 4-3
Buffalo 2-5
Arizona 1-7
San Francisco 2-5
Only one team with a winning record.

Minnesota is 4-3. So 2 teams with winning records.
