there is only one way to legally get a handgun. thus "gun control", which is effective with law abiding citizens. personally i think its a huge slap in the face to anyone that believes in their rights or the constitution, but there is not a whole lot that can be done about it.

i agree that unregistered illegal guns are a problem, but again, taking the legal guns away does nothing but empower criminals. they have no interest in the laws, they can buy them from someones trunk.. commit their crime and throw it away. THAT is a huge problem, but the solution is not to ban all non-hunting guns from everyone that goes about the process of posession legally. that's just silly nonsense.

and besides, a 12 gauge shotgun with buckshot will kill a human better than any weapon a person can buy. it's a hunting gun.

The option of misuse in this case is very serious, we could have a teacher snap and shoot all his kids, hell there was a teacher the other day that attacked a kid with a stapler. Even if a teacher used the weapon to intimidate his classmates that would be very serious and would cause some big issues, not to mention the other issues mentioned in previous posts. Misuse in this case could lead to lots of deaths, its something that needs to be carefully screened and looked at before it goes into action, and if it becomes a standard plan, then the teachers need to be screened and need to take some courses in proper use of the weapon, and safe storage needs to be addressed.

This is 100% different than bearing arms in your own home, it now has to do with trusting someone to have weapons with your children. Someone that often times you will never even meet, or perhaps meet once or twice through the year.

Kahar, show me where, anywhere, that I advocated the government coming and taking your guns away. My objection is, was, and remains with concealed weaponry and people being armed out in public.
