Uh, you transposed those numbers.

Closer to 41st in the nation than 14th.

From the ECS website 2003-2004 data.
http://www.ecs.org/html/Document.asp?chouseid=6218

Teachers in Ohio are the 16th highest paid in the nation.

Attendance rate: 89.4% - 46th in the Nation (as a pure percentage).
Graduation rates: Ohio is the 35th in the nation. (Comparing the number of students who graduated in 2004 to the number of students who were in the public schools 12 years prior).
Students enrolled per teacher: 15.7 - tied for 30th in the nation along with Maryland, North Carolina, & Tennessee.

Conversely, the education report card set up as part of the No Child Left Behind Act tells us that Ohio is ranked at #11 with a B grade. The education report card does not take into account any of the above statistics, but instead grants grades based upon the curved results of 4th & 8th grade Reading & Math proficiency tests.

To obtain that B grade Ohio students only had to achieve the following:
Scoring at or above the 4th grade reading proficiency test: 34%
Scoring at or above the 4th grade math proficiency test: 43%
Scoring at or above the 8th grade reading proficiency test: 36%
Scoring at or above the 8th grade math proficiency test: 33%
For a grand total average proficiency of: 36.5% proficiency! Yeehaw Ohio studants r rely smert!

So I was wrong and you were right, Ohio students are the 11th best in the nation.

Sad that they're considered 11, isn't it?
