Hard to stomach the truth eh? lol That's why I can't stand MORONS like the "rev" jesse jackson, al sharptongue, etc. They are preaching that the "the man" is holding them down, and that democrats are fighting for them. ROFL. Ghetto folk should look up to REAL heroes like Clarence Thomas, Colin Powell, and even Bill Cosby... all men with integrity who teach their people they can rise up and do something with their lives... that they CAN get off of assistance if they APPLIED themselves.
actually it's the middle and lower middle class folks who are patriotic and think that equals being republican is what shocks me....

the sad thing is that you still think that the pubs haven't FUCKED a LARGE portion of the population, like all of the people Funding the Body Count for the "war on terror" --- they are by a huge majority middle and lower middle class families AND everyone NOT getting 700 Billion dollars, which is 99% of the population....

this is very true--i know plenty of white folk on foodstamps and whatnot . . . especially aggravating are those who would come in to my grocery store, buy food with their foodstamps, and then use cash to buy cigarettes, booze, and lottery tickets. *fume*

that's actually not legal at all - they used to do it at the food lion by my house too, and the clerks had no idea that it was totally against the law and just let them do it.

Er, unless I'm very mistaken Gyps, what Leah was describing is perfectly legal (if not also despicable).
Food stamps are used to buy food. Cash is used to buy other junk. That's legit. How is it not? They weren't using or selling food stamps to buy the cigs or booze.

From what I heard locally in MI is that folks were using the food stamps as cash, so they'd essentially sell the stamps to the store, get cash, and then buy whatever they wanted, often times, they didn't want food or anything else the "store" sold for that matter.

see we didn't allow any of that. food stamps = FOOD ONLY. it was just disgusting to see them use the food stamps, which is basically free money out of my pocket, and then use money out of their pockets to buy ridiculous shit.
i take huuuuuuge issue with people who say they're too poor to buy food but then smoke a pack a day. this is a major point of contention between my former roommate and i; she had to file bankruptcy recently (at the ripe age of 22) yet continues to smoke and eat fast food. DO NOT UNDERSTAND

blame that on me reading it wrong and skimming - I read it as people were using the stamps to buy them, which is definitely not legal. and the story about my food lion in VA is true - those clerks didn't know any better.

sense of obligation to take care of her since we're friends, mostly. when i started looking at houses, though, i told her that she couldn't live in the new house with me because i needed roommates who would be sure to pay equal shares of bills (we had been dividing things proportionally to our income, which was a sweet deal for her but not so much for me because i had a lot of other bills not related to her--school loans, car, etc). anyhoo, it was kind of a mess and we're still not really back to "normal" with our friendship yet.
