WHart part of banning guns isnt going to work dont you understand. What part about criminals dont give a fuck about the law dont you understand? What part of most legal guns dont commit murders do you not understand?
Like just about every other issue in america Im glad your all so willing to sacrifice more of my rights for safety. You dont like guns thats fine araby but who the fuck are you to decide what I need and what I dont need ?Instead of coming on hear like your more stoned than I am why dont you put down the bong and look up the stats of illegal guns that have killed people vs legal guns that have killed people, Like I have been suggesting all along .Its a rareity for a legal gun to commit a murder. Take your hippy bullshit and shove it up your ass.

As far as positive things for owning a gun, some people like to, you know, enjoy shooting them. Legally, at the legal range, with legal ammo, and legal guns. Just like you probably like going to hippy festivals, getting stoned, and sitting in circles singing Kumbaya. Its a hobby for some people. Not everyone owns guns for self defense.
As a matter of fact, come to think of it, most if not all of the gun owners I know, which is a LOT in this area, are very responsible owners, and own them as hobby or collectors only, and keep them locked the fuck down in a safe when not in use. NOT for self defense or any of that shit.

That is the absurdity in all of this, gaazy. that is why I cannot wrap my head around it. OF COURSE it can be prevented. Just like anything that is not an ACCIDENT can be prevented! Tell me, that you don't believe in something making a difference! What IF the gun-shop owner had a "bad" feeling about the kid?? Since when do the sellers of guns get to decide whether or not they will sell an arm to someone that they get a "bad feeling" from? If that is the case, then what the hell do we issue LICENSES for??
"oh, he seemed nice enough-so I sold him the gun. If I known he was going to kill thirty people with it, I wouldn't have sold it to him."
well NO SHIT. How about the fact that you can't LOOK at someone and determine whether or not they are mentally stable enough to own a weapon such a handgun. How about LICENSES can't even do that!! It's not an accident that kid bought that gun. he bought it on purpose! that man did not sell it to him accidentally!
Do you have any idea how easy it is to buy a gun illegally?
yes I do. thanks for proving the point is not moot.

If your talking to me gaazy I was mocking chief or one of the other fools that said something along those lines earlier. Sorry I guess I used sarcasm so I cant defend the RTKABA.

It is possible to ban guns. to think it isn't, is ridiculous. there are countries that are disarming as we speak. to consider it isn't possible is definitely wrong. I didn't say it would be simple.
What part about criminals dont give a fuck about the law dont you understand?
I understand criminals have no regard for the law. If this is your logic, then why have laws at all?
What part of most legal guns dont commit murders do you not understand?
if the legal guns are not commiting murders...then why do people own them? What is the benefit of owning these "non-murdering" guns?

I do not decide what you need or don't need. It is widely-known that not one single person in this world "needs" to own a gun. You already knew that.
I haven't hit the bong today. I am not interested in statistics, they are not facts. They are comparisons, sure, however I do not need them to support the way I feel about the issue.
if you do, then post away.

Araby, thats my point, it IS easy to buy an illegal gun, thats why gun control isnt going to make as big of a fucking difference as you think it will. It will just make people like you feel safer until it happens again.
And like 10sun said, the owner could have said no too. Oh, then he would have went down the street and bought it illegally if he was that hellbent on killin people.

guns should be rented at the shooting range.

The fact that the mere utterance of someone taking your guns away has brought you to a frothing rage might be proof of what I've been saying all along. You've become obsessed with your guns. They're much more than just tools of recreation or self-defense, they are symbols of power, and in my opinion, that is the bigger problem.
I have no realistic solution to this problem.

the way to "prevent" this from happening is to go hug a crazy person and ban guns? that's what i gathered from the garbage you threw up in this thread.
take a post I made obviously in jest and run with it...go ahead. you sound dumb, making me explain a joke to you.
honestly I never expected you would hug anyone. *think about it*

exactly. something like this happens and everyone screams "oh my god it's another gun issue! please don't take away my guns!" This issue is the RIGHT to own the gun at this point. That is what I am trying to say.
if you have to ask the question "should guns be legal?" then the answer is PROBABLY NO. I don't have a realistic solution either.

So, why aren't we banning alcohol? Oh wait... because DUI is cool and fun.
EXCELLENT POINT DIEKAN! Next we'll ban cars! Hell, we're well on the way, considering what we're doing to our planet with them!

Most people I know dont even know I own guns. That has nothing to do with it in my case at least, but yeah I agree a lot of people go around advertising how many or what guns they have or whatever, trying to sound like Barney Badass.
If they took my couple guns, I really prolly wouldnt think too much of it like some people would. I bowhunt most of the time anyway. And my pistol sure as hell isnt for self defense. I enjoy the hell out of shooting it, and will buy more before long hopefully. I would probably be pissed for a week or two if I couldnt go out and shoot it, then get over it. But Id still keep it.

Because unlike a handgun, cars serve a purpose. Just like knives and pipes actually serve a useful purpose in society.
In a democratic society it's wise to legislate what weapons should be available and found in many households. That is not violating any constitutional right or supposed 'freedom', but wisely removing something that serves no real purpose except killing people.
We have zero tolerance for driving under the influence in many places. I'd say most guys are safer driving with a few beers, then Bubba is leaving his 9 mm and shotgun in his rickety old case where his 12 year old can easily break into and blow his head off.

i was going to say that that's a pretty good point even after zan's response because technically it would be the same thing, guns are legal but shooting people isn't, drinking is legal but driving drunk isn't.. but then i thought about it, and really.. drinking is used for leisure and entertainment etc.. the only purpose of a gun is to put a hole through something, so it's kind of not the same thing even if guns are used for entertainment - it's destructive entertainment, so it's a little different imo

I find it funny again...the question "do you know how easy it is to own a gun illegally?"
after reading Lyion's post I think "do you have any idea how many mindless, ignorant, dumbasses are out there that have to be accounted for in the 'accidental' murder of a human for leaving their gun (they are legally owned to have, or illegally-whichever way to look at it since they are the same) out for anyone, including small children to pick up and use?"
