Now...
how can anyone say that Dirk isn't the clear favorite in the league MVP race? (so far)
Look at this shit... he's in the top 5 in EIGHTEEN categories... league wide.
Ranks #2 in the NBA in Points Per Game(27.3)
Ranks #5 in the NBA in Rebounds Per Game(11.4)
Ranks #3 in the NBA in Field Goals Made(138.0)
Ranks #4 in the NBA in Field Goal Attempts(295.0)
Ranks #2 in the NBA in Free Throws(142.0)
Ranks #3 in the NBA in Free Throw Attempts(165.0)
Ranks #2 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds(154.0)
Ranks #2 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds Per Game(9.6)
Ranks #4 in the NBA in Total Rebounds(183.0)
Ranks #2 in the NBA in Points(436.0)
Ranks #3 in the NBA in Double-doubles(12.0)
Ranks #4 in the NBA in Field Goals Per 48 Minutes(10.93)
Ranks #2 in the NBA in Free Throws Per 48 Minutes(11.25)
Ranks #3 in the NBA in Defensive Rebounds Per 48 Minutes(12.2)
Ranks #1 in the NBA in Points Per 48 Minutes(34.5)
Ranks #1 in the NBA in Total Efficiency Points(484.0)
Ranks #2 in the NBA in Efficiency Ranking(30.25)
Ranks #3 in the NBA in Efficiency Ranking Per 48 Minutes(38.34)
And then he's top 20 in steals, 3P% and rebounds... that's a total package... this is a better start than any that Elton, KG, TD, Kobe, Webb, T-Mac or Iverson have had in the past few years. 18 cats! Holy fuck!
Right now, Dirk IS the MVP. With his right-hand man injured, Dirk has been carrying the team. Seattle...Lewis and Allen. Spurs...Gino and TD. Suns...Amare,Marion, Nash. All the top teams have 2+ players...Mavs only have 1...Dirk.

Well... that's not saying that the rest of the team SUCKS, it's just that he's the clear focal point.
And... the other teams know it. They double and triple team him all over the place... which is why he's #3 in Free Throw Attempts... they foul the fuck out of him. The problem is... he rarely misses from the charity stripe. Shaq is #1 on the list, and that's a safe foul. You foul Dirk and HOPE he doesn't make the fouled shot.
When Finley gets back, are they going to continue applying so much defensive pressure on Dirk? If not, Finley's going to start in with the 25 ppg... if so, will it affect him? He's got these numbers DESPITE the double and triple teams...
the same things you say about KG and TD.
finally

The NBA is a skilless showboating piece of shit game full of illiterate criminal crybabies and general malcontents. Fuck David Stern, fuck the draft system, fuck
the fans for supporting these assclowns in shorts, fuck soccer too just for the hell of it.

So far, i think seatle and phoenix will play for the western conference championship

nay
Neither team will make it that far. It's FAR too early to make predictions like that.

spurs wolves in the western conference.
kings MIGHT be able to get there but i doubt it. Suns have the better chance than the sonics. Mainly cause nash makes them unstoppable on offense. Mavs maybe but dont think they can play enough D to do much.
Kings will lose cause of rebounding

Well at least the Warriors finally beat somebody decent last night. Beat Dallas for the first time in Dallas since '99.

Dallas is far too streaky to place any bets on. When we are playing well, nobody can beat us... the Minnesota games show that. When we decide to sleep (home games), we either lose to shitty teams (last night) or we BARELY beat them (2 nights ago, 1-point win over Chicago). WTF?

very true. but without an inside presense they aren't gonna win much in the playoffs. The kings are almost completely out of an inside... but their cutting and slashing make up a tad of that. the prob is chris isn't what he used to be... can be one game next he is an outside shooter.
well vonk.. kings kept losing 10 points leads going into 4th quarters against the wolves hehe... kings usually don't lose when going into the 4th with the lead especially at home.
thats the good thing about the kings.. they havn't lost to a bad team yet.

toronto traded vince carter for alonzo mourning, eric williams, aaron williams, and 2 first round draft picks

Which... IMO... gives *some* legitimacy to NJ.
Carter, RJ and Kidd is a pretty respectable backcourt.
I'd hate life if I were in Toronto =/.

Carter wasnt doing anything for us anyways.
We'll see how things turn out. Those two draft picks are probably going elsewhere.

Are you starting to take Josh Howard seriously yet Zan?
Last night in New York. In only 28 minutes, mind you...
26 points
16 rebounds (9 offensive)
3 assists
3 steals
1 block
0 turnovers
0 fouls
I wish they had a rank for effeciency per 48-minutes - one-game performance. I doubt anyone has topped that yet.

Shiet, the way NY was playing defense, I could have posted those numbers.
P.S. WTB Defense!

Dallas Morning News wrote:Some of the NBA's toughest one-on-one matchups, with a comment by Dirk Nowitzki:
Shaquille O'Neal, Heat
"To me, Shaq's still the most dominant player in the league."
Kobe Bryant, Lakers
"He's got everything, the right, the left, the range, the fadeaway."
Allen Iverson, Sixers
"He's amazing for his size the way he dominates the game."
Tracy McGrady, Rockets
"He just goes right up and shoots over you; he's unbelievable."
Tim Duncan, Spurs
"I've got to put him in there because he's so fundamental."
Dirk Nowitzki, Mavericks
"I don't think I'm in there, but I'm trying to get in there."
I saw this and it just fucking pissed me off...
That's Dirk's biggest fucking problem. He has no confidence in himself. The whole league fears him... every time you read the coaches notes about their plans for facing Dallas, it's "what to do about Dirk..." the players don't have a clue on how to stop him... he's the ONLY 7-foot shooter in the league. He does it all AND he's FINALLY SHOWING people that he *can* defend JUST FINE. If Dirk would get over that fucking hump, if he would take charge... he could take this team to the next level. Timmie did that in 1999. He realized that it was now HIS team. When will Dirk figure this out? Ever?

yea but you can neutralize dirk with a decent offensive small or powerfoward
tracy is the only one there that doesn't play great defense. well and dirk. i have dirk in the second tier of best players. and that group isn't a bad one with Peja, Ray Allen, Jermaine Oneal etc
Posted: Wed Jan 05, 2005 10:29 am

uh... no?
nobody has neutralized dirk... yet? the only time that dirk is 'stopped' is when he's simply off. Dirk is in a completely different league than Peja and Allen.

i am meaning if peja scores 25 and Dirk scores 30 he is for the most part useless. If he could play defense he would be in the top tier imo.
i will give dirk credit for his rebounding. for how soft he is he is always in position for a rebound cause he plays matador defense. so he is always there for where a rebound bounces to
