Hey Harrison,
How do you know that Treyvon Martin wasn't in fear for his life in that confrontation? All he knows is this crazy guy was following him and chased him down the block. Wouldn't you be creeped out if you're just walking home from the store minding your own business and some guy you've never seen before is following and chasing you? Do you know for a fact that TM didn't see Zimmerman's gun, and feel a panicked need to knock the stalker out before he could use the gun on him?
What if Treyvon had been armed, and shot Zimmerman? Wouldn't that have been justified under that "stand your ground" provision? Crazy guy chasing him down the block and following him is certainly reasonable grounds to be afraid o someone. Then see he has a gun? Oh, and if TM WOULD have been justified using a gun (ie, potentially lethal force), why would that be OK, and trying to knock someone out since he DIDN'T have a gun not be OK? Do you have any proof TM would have actually killed him eventually? Could he not have just been trying to knock him out? How do you know?
Lastly, why does just having a picture of a gun on his phone and weed make him a thug wanna-be? I've seen campaign commercials from politicians showing them with guns. Are they also thug wanna-bes? What is your evidence, other than those two things and the fact he is black? Seriously, and this is the only way I'm touching on the racism angle, how do you claim this?

The state were foolish to seek second degree murder, and their case for it does not hold water. He deserves to get manslaugter, but based on the law and this case I'll be surprised if he gets convicted of anything. This was a weak case from the outset, and the prosecution has been fairly inept in presenting their side. All it takes is one juror to agree it was stand your ground and the prosecution loses. I doubt 12 of 12 feel it was not Zimmerman's voice crying out and that he was not in any real danger.

On Monday, defense attorneys called a parade of Zimmerman’s friends to testify that it was the former neighborhood watch volunteer who could be heard screaming on the 911 tape. Martin’s father, who police said initially told them he did not recognize the voice, said he came to realize it was his son after hearing the tape some 20 times.

being told not to start a confrontation and starting one anyway shows intent. saying 911 operator has no authority when it is their job to respond or prevent crime is bs
starting a confrontation as the agressor with a weapon shows intent
self defense is someone attacks you and you defend yourself and kill them
you attacking somebody and when you start getting the shit kicked out of you so you kill the person you attacked is NOT self defense
if it was trayvon marton who was the attacker and then killed zimmerman, trayvon would be facing the death penalty..

I disagree.
I think if the tables were 100% reversed, there wouldn't even be a trial right now because if TM had shot GZ in self defense, there wouldn't have been the public outcry from the black community and TM would have walked based on original evidence based on the laws in place, just like GZ did and all this would be forgotten by now.
In the end, as Drem says, the prosecution was just overzealous with the murder charge and botched the whole thing, much like the Casey Anthony trial a couple years back, who also walked afterwards.
