a little over 3 feet to a meter so that would make it bigger than 24 feet, I think. I hate the metric system

right around 26 and a half feet

Haha.. I re-ran my math and came up with 26 feet this time. Wonder what I typed in the first time? In order to get my 16.25 I would've had to divide by 19.2.

Thank you for the corrections =)

So that just makes this an even BIGER-ER squid!

Yeah, marine biologists have seen some really impressive scarring on some sperm whales that had to have come from Giant Squid. The largest we've caught or seen dead samples of have been just over 50 feet long. There is something of a direct relationship between sucker size and squid size. We know how big the suckers are on the 50-foot ones, yet some of the scarring we've seen on Sperm Whales seems to come from suckers that may have been as much as half again as big, or even larger.

So, it's rather likely that there's 75-100 foot long squid out there, and who knows how big they can get, ultimately.

Incredible. And scary... especially considering that Sperm Whales average about 50 feet or so. Have there been any documeted cases of a whale loosing the fight with one of these?

Also, hehe, is anyone else reminded of The Beast?

I'm going to build a squid scuba tank so it can go on land and ravage downtown Pakistan.

I'll even get it a little marine costume, so people will be like "omg how cute" and stand their wanting to pet the squid but instead my combat squid snatches them up and gnaws them to pieces with it's gnashing beak while pulling down buildings with it's radioactive tentacles.

"It's only half to two-thirds grown, so it grows up to four metres in mantle length." By comparison, the mantle of the giant squid, Architeuthis dux, is not known to attain more than 2.25 metres.

Wow, that species of squid could reach > 100 feet in length all told. NOT something you want to run into, face to face.

If you ever played WoW back when The Nameless was mainly us old EQ people, you would have known of my giant squid fear. For some reason I find the idea of giant squid fucking terrifying. I dunno why, I just do.

People in the guild use to mail me winter squid and put up squid threats in the MoTD all the time. Damn me for admitting my irrational fear.

This picture scares the shit out of me. Of course being afraid of giant/collossal squid I do my research on them.... so I have seen this picture so many times, and each time I can't look away :(

This fear is probably one of the top most irrational fears of all times. I mean wtf is it gonna do? Come knock on my door? I dunno :(
