putting up good stats 1 year on a good team doesn't make you necessarily a good goalie
see:
Jim Carrey, Brian Boucher, Roman czechmanek, Roman Turek, etc
Better goalies than Raycroft in 2003/04:
Brodeur, Belfour, Nabokov, Theodore, Khabibulin, Kiprosoff, Turco, Luongo, Denis, maybe burke
Don't get me wrong, he's going to be good
but he's not going to be a guy who can carry a team like a true top flight goalie

i have faith in a guy thats 25 as a rookie goalie and took his team as far as he did his rookie year, its bit too early in his career to say he can or cant. goalies are like defensemen and getter better with age in my opinion.

I won't disagree with older goalies being generally better than younger
But like i said, if he puts a couple years together of comparable stats then we can talk
think of it a bit like rookie pitchers
people have a hard time hitting them until they start to get heavily scouted

I really really like the Sharks' goalie situation. Nabokov IS a top-flight goalie, and his backup, Vesa Toskala could start on a lot of teams. Hell, Kiprusoff was Nabokov's backup here in SJ before he got traded.
Based on the one game I saw for the Sharks, they could REALLY use a top faceoff man. They were getting faceoffs at a 1-3 or 1-4 ratio. Other than that, they look pretty good, I think, even though they lost.

it's going to be a good year I think
All the teams that can skate, yet still play some defense should do well

Well, the NHL got what it want now. So many high scoring games so far. May be someone can go after Gretzky single season scoring record.

Shootouts aren't used in the playoffs. They're solely to eliminate ties. No ties in the playoffs, so no shootouts.

It could be me but i didnt even know ties really bothered people. What is wrong with a tie ?

A tie is a meaningless result

so if they flipped a coin for the winner at the end, that would be better than a tie?

Shootout is almost the same as a coin flip in alot of ways.
I would prefer the 4 on 4 OT they have now extended until one team scores a goal and wins.
Go Habs Go!!!!

What the fuck is hockey doing on the Outdoor Life Network?

Hockey isn't a religion in the US like it is in Canada, so the only network willing to pay to show it was OLN~

Hull said that he is retiring because he is not performing to his high level standards. Mostly because his skills diminished due to old age and he is sucking ass right now.
