Nomad kicked ass in a car. Nothing beat playing genesis games handheld on long trips.

Sorry to bump this way old thread, but what do you all think of the PSP now? It's scheduled to ship to the USA in about a month. The DS is decent, but I'm leaning toward the PSP if I'm going to buy one or the other. They really haven't done much to impress me with the dual/touch screens on the DS. I pretty much live in airports/airplanes/mass transit and need a good time killer. I think the PSP is on target. $350 seems a bit steep, but we'll see.

Hmmm...Game Gear, backlit screen, like 10 years ago.
Game Boy, backlit screen, last year.
Which was gay again?

the nintendo hardware was always garbage.
what it had going for it was that every single software developers was putting out games for it
Sega always tried to do as much inhouse as possible and always failed miserably just because nintendo beat the tar out of them for selection
Now that sony's getting into the ring, with a bunch of software developers behind them, they have the 1st legit chance of pushing nintendo out of top spot
I've been waiting for probably 4 years for a device that can do games, movies and music, so I'm fairly interested in the PSP

Dude! I saw this post - "Today is the day!", and I immediately threw on some clothes, jumped in the car... and went to Bojangles for a chicken biscuit.
MMMM!
Thanks for reminding me... today truly was THE day.

DS has cool features.. multiplayer wireless play without paying for any sort of service etc.. does PSP have the same type of thing? Player versus Player is a big deal these days, EQ spoiled me... Any game that's entirely me against the computer bores me very fast.
