The reason I told you to pay attention was because you were using an irrelevant piece of information to defend your position... and you did it multiple times, as if repetition could lend it veracity. Bottom line is, the man saw his wife in a confrontation with someone in the stands. He ensured that she was safe, and did so without harming anyone. He still has to pay the penalty for violating league rules, but he absolutely did the right thing.

I have absolutely no idea how seeing what happened, how he could come to the conclusion that his wife was in trouble

the dude was just sitting there, and she was standing over him, freaking on him

Although probably shallow, materialistic and not to bright - she is HOT...

Doesn't matter. You see your wife, hell, any member of your family, in a confrontation with a stranger, you have to make sure everything's ok. That's exactly what Davis did. He didn't assault anyone, didn't escalate the situation, just went over and made sure his wife was safe, cooperating with local security as soon as they arrived.

This is a real tough one. Really, its all semantics. His wife was clearly in the wrong, and was the source of the problem.

Davis, however, just hears his wife screaming, and reacts like most guys would, by hurrying to ensure his family is safe. I respect that.

Davis is not allowed in the stands at games, so he was clearly wrong, although his motives were good. The end cannot justify the means.

The suspension is further warranted by her actions, and the fact she was the catalyst.

Or that the dude wasn't drunk at all?

Or the fact that Davis just over reacted and went into the stands because of something he obviously didn't have all the facts about?

I disagree that the ends cannot justify the means...

If you honestly believe that someone is posing a real danger to your family - you have every RIGHT to protect them. I'd have less respect for him if he just stood on the sidelines and watched.

There is a time and place to say, "to hell with the rules" and do the right thing.

To reiterate, the irrelevant piece of information that you kept dragging up was the video replay. Davis' actions can only be judged in light of the information he had at the time: his wife was involved in a confrontation with a man in the stands, and security was nowhere to be seen. In that situation, he did precisely the right thing, ensuring no harm came to his family while not escalating the situation, then turning the situation over to security as soon as they arrived. He still has to accept the consequences for his actions, in this case a suspension, but he hardly "over reacted" (sic).

i thought it was a stupid move, a player going into a hot crowd can cause big time problems, by doing what he did, he risked starting a brawl/riot. All it would take is one drunken fan to lose his cool and take a swing and things would have gotten REAL ugly un a hurry. His first reaction was to help his wife but he should have stopped and thought about the possible problems that could come with going into the crowd.
