It's all about profit now, Sorina. The stockholders want maximum profit. If you do not get it, someone else will. Get used to it. It is only going to get worse.

ROFL...pardon me while I laugh in your face. I've been poor pretty much my entire life. I just don't expect the government or low paying company to pick up for where I made poor decisions.
Wal-mart doesn't offer bennies because they hire the dregs that reputable companies WON'T hire. I'd be willing to bet their truckers are people your company has fired. They also don't care if there's a huge turnover. People are expendable to them.
You really are all over the place in your argument. Do you really understand what your position on this is or hasn't your union rep explained it thoroughly enough?

Actually their truck drivers are pretty well taken care of. That is how Wal-Mart keeps the Teamsters out. I wonder how much experience Sorina has with actual Wal-Mart truck drivers. They are also very safe.

I wrote a long post about payroll breakdowns, margins and why it happens but really im gunna cliff note it:
1 - I've managed for Marshalls and I now manage for target - they are not the same you can not compare them - trust me on this its retail but this thing like home depot and walmart is a beast that relies on ppl actually working. Marshalls relies on ppl showing up and ringing on the registers.
2- Alot of ppl dont deserve the beenfits - those that do more often than not get promoted. (IE: target lvl 1 you dont, but if your good as alvl one they give you a lvl 2 so you can get said benefits.) same at walmart i know ppl that work there.
3- Why do ppl deserve anything if they dont work for it?
4 - its called an ENTER key not a space bar
5- Unless you have worked for one of these mega retailers sitting there at 2 am i nthe morning still cleaning because half your employees over xmas couldnt find their ass with their head and dont do anything at all dont come to me with they desrve anything.
6 - I bet you also want to see min wage increased too.

Yeah I'm surely not blind to that Fish. But for the CEO of Walmart to come out and talk about how the government should help his company bring their heathcare benefits into line with other companies, some of which aren't doin as well as him, is, well, it's a Fellini flick with a bad ending.
People work for Walmart, and Home Depot and you name it and they don't make dick and they don't get dick for benefits and as the industrial base of the US shrinks they have fewer avenues to ever find better.
This is the world we live in, and if Walmart wants to live it it, then they need to be big enough to own it. More Americans work for Walmart than any other company in the United States of America. We made them what they are, time to pay the piper.

oh I should mention I get paid more than the higest rank of home depot and walmart managers for the same position and I have room to grow pay scale wise before I move on so ya Walmart and home deopt are dick at mng standpoint but before that home depot powns both of those stores.

Couldn't have been said any clearer.
Walmart is the shit job of choice for people who simply need the work to get by for the moment before they can find something a little less soul-sucking and thankless.
Employers give benefits to attract high calibur people. You don't need to be high calibur to work a cash register or stock shelves - the bulk of the population can do it.
If you're looking for a career, a future, or security from Walmart... you're wrong.
-
Granted I think Walmart's general business strategy/ethics could best be described as "FUCK FUCK FUCKING PIGGY PIGGY PIGGY FUCK FUCK FUCKING FUCKERS" - there is no reason why taxpayers should be supporting them.

I've never driven for the company Walmart but I have taken many loads from them when I worked for Hunt. I've met a few Walmart drivers, they do okay, as well as any driver might do. But they don't get get the benefits you'd think they would. But that's not unusual in the trucking industry, my point was that they are skilled people.

You know he came up with a good plan, lets have these Govenors help foot the bill. Hell man Walmart is the largest employer in these United States and makes more money than the baby Jesus on a good day. Even Andy Young is on this gravy train.
http://www.usatoday.com/money/industrie ... -ceo_x.htmI'm all over this shit, I'd be more than happy to pay more in state taxes to make sure that those Walmart cashiers can get their strep throat taken care of
http://today.reuters.com/investing/Fina ... ALMART.xmlI just couldn't abide payin $1.99 for a $1.49 pair of socks. If there's two things in this world I hate to see it's fairly priced, substandard, made in a sweat shop, Chinese products and cashiers with strep throat. Hell I'm a rich American I light up my GPC generic cigs with $50 dollar bills I can surely afford to bail out Walmart's heath care plan.
You know I get a little teste when assholes like this guy have the elephant balls to think 'We the People' have brains the size of lima beans. I'd hate to point any fingers at where this type of behavoiur comes from /cough Cheney/cough Haliburton...but I'll tell you true, I can't wait til this administration ends. Oh another link...
http://www.nytimes.com/2006/02/23/busin ... lmart.htmlVive Walmart ..!.,
Great idea Sorina... It's working really for Ford, Chevy and GM.
Because they have billions in revenue every dipshit with a highschool education and 5 kids deserves healthcare, bonuses and a retirement plan.
Please. Save it. A company exists to make money; their time, assets and personnel should be devoted to that cause.
Whether you like Walmart or not isn't really important, but they employ millions of people around the globe. They don't need to be stagnated with trying to provide benefits to people, who frankly don't deserve it.
Walmart is big and powerful because thats what the American people wanted. The American middle class wants to buy the cheapest, crappiest whored out Chinese made junk and Walmart services that huge industry. If American's were that interested in mom and pop shops surviving and keeping jobs here in America they would stop shopping at Walmart. They don't.
I fucking hate shopping at Walmart because the place is always packed with border jumpers, white trash and shitty products.
As far as jobs going overseas you can blame the politicians for that, not these companies.
Running a business in this country is a fucking nightmare with all the beaurocratic red tape, taxation and the rules governing what employees *deserve*.
To stay competitive these companies had to outsource and will continue to do so. Mark my words it's only going to get worse as these other countries become hubs for research and development of better products combined with their cheap labor pools.

Yeah yeah here we go with the "In my day" bullshit..
Be successful or make your fucking bed and lay in it. I have absofuckinglutely no sympathy for those that had the chance and didn't take it.
The only people exempt from the harsh rules I am in favor of are children, elderly, infirmed, and handicapped.
You get a free education. (Say what you want about the free education quality but if one motherfucker from your school goes to college shut the fuck up because you could have too.)
You have a free job market out there.
If you make bad choices or life fucks you up the ass, bend over, take it, and become a better person. If you choose any other recourse you can fuck off and die in my opinion.
That's life. Get better or get the fuck out of the way.

Oh noes...Sorina has a low opinion of me! I shall now slit my wrists! Considering I think your mental processes are only slighter higher than an amoeba, I'm not surprised you don't understand self-reliance.
Wal-mart is basically throwing the gauntlet that Maryland tossed them back into the faces of the states. Maryland passed a law that stated businesses that had over x amounts of employees had to provide bennies. Wal-mart was the only company that qualified for the new law. It's a bullshit law and I wouldn't blame Wal-mart if they closed up shop and left the state.
They are now challenging all the bad press they get for not offering bennies by this new statement to Governors. It's all really a PR ploy...they don't expect states to do jack but they can say they tried to work something out while the Governors can bemoan Wal-marts lack of feeling for its employees.

Uh... the whole point of this thread is that Walmart wants the government to pay for health insurance for it's employees...
If you think it's cool that the largest employer in the country and the most profitable business on the planet needs your tax dollars to provide health insurance for it's employees, you are fucked in the head.
