Yes. I'm not sure what kind of ghetto schools you're talking about but around here you can't even student teach until your 4th year. Substitutes go through a huge background check and have to have their bachelor's before even being put on the list.
Ehh...strike that. I forgot I got the job after college, so bachelors was probably a must.
And I had to give them my fingerprints. That was it though.
My bad.
erm, don't you need a teaching degree to be a substitute teacher?
And no, I have a degree in communications. It's just a glorified babysitters job. There was no teaching involved.

Seriously, sell Pre-Paid legal. I don't sell it, but I have it and I think it is something everyone and their mother should subscribe to.
That other shit people don't really need. Not to mention pre paid legal is a real business IMO...if people need cosmetics and lipgloss and shit (like DDuck) they can go to target.

Go back to your old job and just collect the check until you find something lucrative elsewhere. I know you are strongly opinionated, but for the sake of your standard of living just deal with it and bail out when you can. Plenty hate their jobs, plenty hate what their jobs stand for. In the end, if the bills are paid the ends justify the means to some degree.

Not an option atm, and we're fine for at least another month; I just can't stand the limbo. Sure a lot of people hate their jobs, but as much as I put into work when I'm there, I can't be one of them or it puts a huge strain on my life.
As far as college, Ginz.. I went for a bit, but had to work 2 jobs when I went, and got bunk grades due to working 70+ hours a week with 18 credits. College isn't for everybody, either - about 60% of my friends with a college education right now regret wasting 4+ years of their lives, because it's done shit for them. I'm 22; at my previous job I had a pretty wide job description; you couldn't really put a name on it if you tried. I guess I'm still not sure what I want to be when I grow up because I get bored fairly easily if what I'm doing is monotonous. I'm likely going to go put my resume in at the local homebuilder which will be similar to what I was doing; not sure if that will work out as they're tiny and don't build nearly the volume as my other company, but cross your fingers for me

Thanks, Maeya; the actual job part of the job I absolutely loved - there was a change of management and over the past few months our team has been absolutely torn apart with a manager pitting people against each other and trying to get people to throw each other under the bus. The exact words I was given when I was asked about it and replied were "Well Ashley, I didn't get to where I am by having an opinion, so I guess you need to learn that."
It's been a matter of this particular manager discussing private matters with other employees (who are equals with each other; would be different if it was discussed with other management.) I loved everything the company stood for, but when I was told in so many words that I was no longer allowed to think for myself and seeing the favorites being played and my coworkers going in so upset they were in tears on some days; seeing some of the best women I've ever known struggling so badly and unable to say anything about it killed me. I can put up with a lot of shit at work, but piss poor management is my achilles heel, I guess.

Capt is right about Pre-Paid Legal. It is a legitimate business. I actually work at the corporate headquarters for Pre-Paid Legal as their web support. I've seen people make $10,000 a week selling this service. Granted, that's the top selling associates in the company, but it is possible.

Any of those home business are good money if you work it consistantly and recruit often. When I sold Princess House the top seller made $16m that year. And, no, that wasn't a typo.

no really I only said that because that is what I do for a living. gyps your situation sucks right now, I've been living that nightmare for about ten years. lose a job, what to do, need to finish school, bills don't pay themselves, find a job (not the one you just lost you need a career change) but I need to finish school, ad nauseum
I do hope you find something that can help your situation and open doors for you also-my best advice came from my best friend and she said, "if you aren't moving forward, then what are you doing.." so good luck and hang in there!

Around here a person has only a few choices:
Go to college
Go into a trade
Go into "the service"
Marry a rich person
Bum off your parents
Suffer and work a minimum wage job your whole life
Or...you are extremely intelligent and can sell your skill doing nothing of the above.
Then there is always the stipping, prostitution, drug dealing, robbing 7 eleven type occupations. You seem like a sweet girl so you probably don't want to get into any of those.
So All I can say is, try not to fall into the "suffer and work a minimum wage job your whole life" category. I know people who do it. To be honest, I'd rather be a homeless person living on a beach in Mexico selling macaroni necklaces to the tourists.

That just seems like the best idea to me no matter how you cut it.
Don't use the excuse that "school isn't for everyone" because it's easy. Anyone with half a brain can get their bachelors.
The two mortgages definitely adds a twist though...I don't know how much houses cost where you live but that sucks either way you slice it. I'm sure there is away to work it out and go to school at the same time...
...you'll just be in alot of debt when you are finished but at least you'll have a college degree.
Don't listen to people that tell you that they "wasted four years at college".

In companies around here if you don't have a college degree you are either working in the factory or in the call center. Both hell on earth jobs. But like I said earlier, most companies pay for your tuition if you are in those positions so that is always an option too.
Or she can always sell double headed dildos to fat women at "adult toy parties" like Garg suggested.

Again.. college isn't for everyone; it wasn't for me.
At my last job, I started as receptionist and worked my way up; I did very well there and my resume has a lot more on it due to my diligence there. I'm glad college worked for you guys, but it didn't for me. It's not an option for me as I have no desire to do it and won't put money toward something I have no passion for.
