My cousin took a job in the middle of BFE Wyoming making fantastic money working for a railroad. All he does is ride around in trains all day.

With UP, it takes a long time to become an engineer/conductor. They do have navigator positions available every once in a while (this is also a very sought-after job). They ride with the conductor and operate a (GPS) lap top computer connected to the internet via satellite, and they are constantly looking at the track a couple miles ahead of the train to warn the conductor of possible dangers and switches. That job starts at about $55k yr.

Vandals and mischievious teens have been known to manually pull switches to misguide the train, which *could* cause a derailment.

Good one Kizzy. I have no comment as to her performance because I missed the show.
Oh, and I start trucking school on Monday. :P
I also sent my resume to Union Pacific. They are hiring now. From what I've heard, UP is a great place to work, and 2 people I know absolutely love working for them.
Wow, another career move. Cong?
How old are you again?

So is it unanimous (from those who saw it or read about it)? Carlin pwned Coulter?

Carlin didn't say a word. Jay Leno brought up some good points though. He said something like, "you make a lot of interesting points in your book but I think they suffer because of the way you say it. When you attack people on a personal level (i.e. 911 women being 'harpies' and 'their husbands probably wanted to divorce them') that kind of overshadows whatever point you were originally trying to make.
Which is true.

The insurance biz sucks. I'm 39. But, I have a nice savings, investments, and an education. The only way I'm able to pull this off right now is because I'm an excellent money manager. I'm only going to drive for 2-3 years, then work my way up into management. Most, if not all, trucking managers started off as drivers anyway. :P

Depends on who you hear it from, and from which source you read about it.

HAH!
You are one naive lad.
Of all "rich" people, I would say maybe 10 percent were silver spoon brats who came into their money thanks to mom and dad. The other 90 percent of rich people probably worked their fucking asses off for years to make their money. Many of them work their entire lives to come into wealth. They probably know more about hardships and "real american life" as you so put it than anyone else. They are also vastly more experienced and wise than the average shmuck who works 40 hours a week and swills beer with the rest of their time.
I want to be rich and I know my average week for the last 6 months is hovering around 65 hours a week. Two weeks ago I worked 105 hours.
Another thing about the rich elite is that most of them are the ones you can thank for providing you with any sort of employment opportunity. Now, I will say that most big corporations do not treat employees as well as they should in this day and age, but at some point many of the people who built those huge companies put in more time and effort and risked a great deal more than the average employee who works 8 hours a day and gets free health care.
When your pot smoking ass works 65+ hours a week for a few years in the pursuit of wealth and financial independance you can come here and post your hippie propaganda bullshit...Until then I would leave big conversations to real men.
Oh and before I forget, you should really reconsider your shitty attitude. If you want to spend your life "fighting the system" or whining about all the perceived injustices you have to deal with because of the big bad rich elite you will NEVER get anywhere. It takes money and power to make any real changes and that takes a lot of hard work, something I don't think you personally will ever understand.

QFT and in addition to that, it's not just hard work. It's maximum efficiency and using your intelligence to get to that level. I know a lot of people who work their asses off to make shit money. For most people, they work, some even work hard but at the end of the day they stop and go home and drink beer and watch TV. People who are on a path to wealth eat, sleep, shit and breathe their work. No stone unturned, no holes for the money to leak through and no advantages and opportunities left wasted.
When the work day ends, they go home and think about work. It's a constant nagging thought in the back of your mind that says "What else can I do to make my shit better?" and "What opportunities are out there that I could take advantage of?". At the end of the day people aren't rich only because they are hard workers. They are rich because hey utilize time to it's fullest potenial. They work smarter, not harder.
Ralf says if you keep "fighting the system" you'll never get anywhere in life. That's not true. It just means you won't be rich. I know plenty of people that have that same attitude that are happy. Also, it's your role in life and who you choose to be. I mean, there has to be losers for there to be winners ya know.
