That act alone will not start a war. If Kim Jong Illin thinks he can thumb his nose at the rest of the world and just fire off missiles whenever he wants to, he has another thing comin.

If you think it's ok for them to launch that missile then you need your head examined.

Why is it ok for the US to have all the power in the world, but they pick a fight anytime anyone remotely comes close to developing a similar power? This is why this country is in the current war it is in, because they cannot stay the fuck out of other country's business. The US needs to look at the US and to take care of our people and our land before worrying about policing the world. We shoot their missle down, I guaranfuckingtee you we will be in another shit storm of new terrorists and more bullshit than them fucking around with a missle that might be able to hit the US.

Part of the responsibility of being a "superpower" is looking out for the rest of the world, offering assistance where it is needed and wanted, and keeping sneaky bastards in check. If nobody kept N. Korea in check, they would be pulling all sorts of shenanigans. We need to let them know that some of their actions will not be tolerated.

The war actually has a few real reasons for why it started.

1) Cheney, Wolfowitz, et al, from PNAC have been itching to go to war with Iraq for years, read some of the PNAC documentation. 9/11 gave them an excuse to semi-legitimize doing so.

2) It secures a source of oil for the big oil companies that have historically been joined at the hip with Bush. It's no accident that their profits have skyrocketed since the Iraq war began.

3) Bush tends to see things in black and white, and may actually believe some of his "They tried to kill my pappy!" rhetoric, and wanted to get Saddam as revenge.

4) It's an old-style colonialist war, take over a country, install a government friendly to us, to use to leverage other countries in the region, and assure ourselves priority (and often discounted) access to an important natural resource.


WMDs were the smokescreen by which they attempted to legitimize the war. The whole "Providing a Foothold for Democracy" was the spin and substitute reason when the WMD excuse blew up in their faces when we didn't find anything whatsoever. Remember when Ashcroft sat in the news conference and said "We know exactly where the WMDs are"? That's almost as rofl-inducing in a sick/sad way as Wolfowitz going before Congress and telling them that the war in Iraq wouldn't cost the US taxpayers a dime.

You can see what the high-level priorities were by the actions of US troops in the immediate aftermath of conquering Bagdhad. They immediately moved to protect oil-related infrastructure, and ONLY oil-related infrastructure. Stuff like museums, power systems, water systems, etc. were all ignored, while most troops sat idle and watched it happen.

The war in Iraq is a distraction from the real fight against terrorism, and provides a HUGE recruitment boost for the terrorist organizations, who can point to the war an doccupation as proof of their assertions that the West is interested in a New Crusade to conquer the middle east and stamp out Islam. It also provides a training ground for that new generation of terrorists, etc. The actual "conquer the country" part, the actual military war part was handled OK, everything since then has been incredibly bungled. They had NO plans for the peace, and honestly believed that we'd be greeted with flowers as liberators, and never thought there'd be an insurrection.

Well you got one reason correct. If only partly. If a terrorist country controls one of the largest source of oil in the world what do you think will happen to the countries that depend on that oil?

The other reasons you stated are media driven. I'm still waiting on DP to give his view on why before giving the real reasons this war was actually started.

What these leftist retards don't want to admit is that W was told by the CIA and other agencies that WMD's were indeed in Iraq. Bush acted on that intelligence. Then we didn't find any. Oh, how surprising! We didn't even invade Iraq for MONTHS after the intel was given to W. That gave them ample opportunity to hide the stuff, and hide it well, or move it out of the country. Now we're seeing it pop up here and there. Those small instances are proof that WMD's exist. Even one small ampule of Serin (sp?) is a WMD. There is more. We just haven't found the cache yet. Now you're gonna start seeing the neanderthals like Kerry and other douchebags say, "I knew they were there!" LMFAO.

the WMD's found are older than some posters on this board, from well before the first gulf war, when Iraq was fighting Iran. and they've said none of it is deadly, or even usable anymore.
