Havlat's that good, huh? I freely admit that I don't know that much about him.

When he was healthy he was our best forward last year (IMO).

imo based on pure talent, he's the most offensively gifted player on the sens, better then hossa too (although he's a lot less of a complete player). His defense isn't great, but he can kill penalties really well with his speed, he gambles a bit but ends up getting a lot of breakaways on the pk.

One major problem early on was his groin, he skates with his legs far appart and this caused a lot of strain on his groin which made him miss a bunch of games. Overall though, even though he has had some injuries, none of them seem to be the kind that will hobble him in the future.

Another down side he has had is with the refs. He's been busted a few times for bad stuff, like kicking a player during a game. He's known as a bit of a dirty player (he doesn't initiate contact but he retaliates and does it in an ugly way sometimes). The only other negative I can think about him is that he's sat out a bunch of training camps looking for more money, the guy has always been stuck behind alfredsson and hossa/heatley so he hasn't gotten too much time but he's been looking for first line money.

He's a young kid, who can skate, deek through anybody, and score from anywhere. As much of a headache as he can be, I would hate to lose him, especially for a backup goalie

I don't like Havlat at all

he's a bit of a dirty fucker, and from talking to people, he's not particularly well liked, even in his own dressing room

I don't think this deal will get done now since Ottawa signed Gerber today. They also cut Hasek. Their two goalies will be Emery and Gerber.

Probably right. Well, Sharks need to go out and sign a good D-man now, then. Too bad Chara just got nabbed. Still, it was by Boston, maybe they'd trade him to us if we offer them a couple used stick bags. They certainly gave away Thornton cheaply enough.

Big free agent defensemen are going ...going... gone. Blake agreed with LA Kings on a two year contract. Ed Jovanovski agreed to a five-year deal with the Phoenix Coyotes. Zdeno Chara got a five-year deal with the Boston Bruins.

for right wing Joffrey Lupul, defenseman Ladislav Smid, a 2007 first-round draft pick, a conditional first-round selection and a second-round choice in the 2008 draft

depending on how well the oilers draft, it may turn out to be an ok trade

lupul is something they needed (a good skating winger with a scoring touch)

Smid is supposed to be a pretty ok prospect, obviously no where near pronger though


I wonder how loudly pronger will get booed in his 1st game back?

The Ducks gave up a lot for Pronger; 2 top ten overall picks(Lupul 7th overall in 2002, Smid 9th overall 2004), 2 first rounders and a second rounders. I don't know if Pronger is worth it since they have Neidermayer there already.

well, if you feel you're only 1 year away from a cup, it's a good deal


this gives the Ducks 2 dominant defensive pairings, 2 really strong pointmen for the powerplay


they might miss lupul's scoring, but we'll see

The Sharks went out and signed somebody. Mike Grier agreed to a 3 year $5.3 million dollars contract.
