Does wealth equal happiness? Is wealth a right?

Of course not, to both. If you want wealth, you earn it, and you have the choice to do that in a morally appropriate way, or not. You don't automatically have a right to it, regardless of who you are. If you're born into a wealthy family and don't earn any of it, you'd still need to do something with your life to feel fulfilled and happy.

Also, if I remember right from sociology, statistically, there are more suicides among wealthy single men than any other category. The old saying holds true, "more money, more problems." This is understandable too, imagine the social gap wealthy people face. The average working class person will despise them because of their financial situation. Envy and jealousy will be everywhere, regardless of how "good" of a person you are, or how much you give back, or even if you decide to live in an average medicore house and not show off your wealth at all. The wealthy person could easily become anxious and nervous, thinking everyone is after his/her money, and that could lead to social isolation, which could turn into severe depression.

Do you earn wealth, or do you generate wealth?

Earn has a subjective connotation there...

Generate has an objective connotation...

I read a book a while back that kind of deals with this subject and lays it out in a manner that makes brutal sense.

My father gave me his copy a few months ago. Its a good read if you are interested in business at all. A little backstory, my father worked for the author years and years ago when he was just getting started. Reading the book gave me a good deal of insight into work and also into my relationship with my father.
