Duh...it had to do with money!

I'm going to school so I can't work there full-time anymore, but hopefully I can go back after school. (I do love my job in all actuality. I just can't work 60 hours AND be a full-time student, not going to happen.

Well, if I found out Harrison was actually making $500 an hour with no skills, education or certifications, I'd be on a plane right now.

Frankly I dont give a rats ass if you hand out blowjobs on the corner for 5cents a throw. If you like your job, fucking who cares what you make, what you are doing and who thinks it is retarded.

I think the bill collectors care what you make and the nagging urge to want to own nice shit cares too.

I have enough to make me happy material-wise. (nice computer, fairly large TV to play consoles on, games etc.)

I want a job where I am proud of what I did at the end of the day. Like now...

I look at a mast I've completed and think "Wow, that looks fucking sick" The only part that bothers me is that it sells for hundreds of thousands and I make jack-squat in comparison to that.

Yes, as soon as possible. But for now, I am going to a doctor. I keep getting stabbing chest pains again and can't put it off any longer.

Last year they told me it was heartburn...like I don't know what the fuck heartburn is. (I have a peptic ulcer and acid reflux disease. For 10 years...)

Stabbing chest pain is NOT heartburn.

Get the nicer apartment, buy some nice clothes, go out to fancy dinner. Enjoy the fruits of your labor just remember:
$20 made - $19 spent = happiness
$19 made - $20 spent = misery.

Pretty simple. Enjoy the raise!

seriously, if i were to buy a "new" car, it would be a 2003ish accord. nothin' brand new for me!

I dunno

I think everyone should own a brand new car once in their lifetime

and generally its easier to do young, than old~

ps, chasing $$ sucks

if you find a job you like AND can survive on, stay with it

*shrug* i guess i'm just not that interested in having a brand new car, y'know? whatev.

my only wish is that my roommate could afford to split rent more evenly when we move to a new place. the current plan is that i'll pay $350 a month and she'll pay $250 (assuming we can find a decent place for $600). i wish she could afford to match me, but it's okay. she's in school still and works as many hours as she can doing bookkeeping at a grocery store. she's a tough cookie, that one.

I disagree that spending money brings happiness. especially when there was no more saved than one dollar.

saving 10%, paying bills and rewarding yourself with what's left over will more likely bring about happiness.

satisfying yourself the wrong ways, by comforting yourself with material things, will surely bring misery. that's not to say I think Leah will do this, I am responding to eziekial's post but not specifically to Leah. she'll make her decision and I hope it's the right one.

I'm partial to blondes so I think you are much hotter but if she needs a good lay let me know.

Ash, you're missing the point of the saying. If you spend more than you make you will be miserable. If you spend less then you find happiness which is right in line with your thinking. It's not an absolute formula so if 10% savings makes you happy; great! My point is to live within your means, save for a rainy day but don't squirrel away every cent and act Scrooge McDuck. That's just my take on life, feel free to go about it in your own way.

No, I got your point. I think you're correct when you say "if you spend more than you make you will be miserable."

I was disagreeing with your statement when you said happiness equals spending money, without saving. your advise to leah was to enjoy the fruits of her labor by satisfying wants for material things.

you miss my point when I suggest that satisfying yourself with material things leads to misery. her eyes will see better things around her, her mind will be satisfied with better clothing and her taste buds will be satisfied with fancy food. these things will bring her temporary happiness because it only satisfies the senses we all have. using the money for things other than temporary happiness will bring her true happiness.

however, I thought about it in the bathtub, and I fully support any decision leah makes because it is hers to make, and if her apartment is in a dangerous area, she should move away from it period, whether or not she increases the rent. her safety is important and I wouldn't suggest living in harm's way to save some cash.
