Arguably, it's the only next gen console. It actually does something different.

What is different? A wireless lightgun? Woohoo. So, if Sony and MS add a wireless lightgun accessory then they will be next gen? Oooookay.

Say what you want but drunken wii bowling is better then drunken duck hunt, which has stayed top for so long in drunk video game category, when I have a few friends over!

Get a Wii and play it with non gamer friends. Really, it may seem gimmicky, but in actuality it is just plain fun.

I've played it, many times. It's great fun for about 2 hours until your friends leave and then you are a left with a sore arm and a bunch of really lame single player experiences.

I stopped playing single player games after I found Everquest. Except the total war series and elderscrolls series. Multiplayer games are just more fun.

That's what it's made for, though. Although I disagree with your single player analogy since Resident Evil 4, Super Paper Mario, and the Wii old console game downloads are better than anything on the 360 at the moment.
To me it's next gen because it is different, and brings in non gamers.
I have a bunch of whiz bang 360 titles that none of my 30something friends would ever play or care about. They all are happy to hop on the Wii and 4 player it.

Need for Speed: Carbon, Gears of War, Oblivion, Lost Planet.
All own for the 360 and can be single player.

I own Gears of War, Oblivion, and Lost Planet. I played them all for two weeks, then shelved them. They were fun, and I finished them, but not as fun as my Wii games.
I still break out RE:4 on the Wii, and the Order of the Phoenix game on the Wii is far, far better than all of the above ones, except Oblivion which I prefer on the PC.

See, I thought oblivion on the PC failed big-time.
It is much more comfortable on the 360, and I've put a lot of time into both.
The port was just done poorly if you ask me.

Super Paper Mario is a hoot. I really think it's the best game on the Wii single player right now.
Oblivion on the 360 is very well done, Harrison. Being an old mouse + keyboard RPGer for these types of games makes me prefer the PC gameplay. Plus, I have a PC that can absolutely crush a 360 for graphics. Plus, the best part of Oblivion are the free downloadable mods for the PC, IMO.

I was going to say, the mods are what makes Oblivion spectacular

I'll have to see what mods are out there, maybe they can fix that horrid UI.

Oh, I see, it's a next gen gaming console because it appeals to non-gamers. My original NES with Super Mario 3 had all the girls at our last party practically fighting over the controller (it kinda made my loins tingle) when they saw it. Does that make my NES a "next gen" console as well?

no, it's next gen because it's completely different way to play games
there's nothing different between the 360 and original xbox other than improved graphix

Xbox live is by far the best multiplayer community system I've ever seen. Shit deserves an award.
Not to mention I've started making my own video games on the XNA Game Studio from microsoft. It's like .NET for video games. It even allows for full voice and xbox live support!!!!!!
Right now I've only made tetris, but I want to make a dungeon crawler next.

It's not completely different. It's a wireless lightgun basically.

it's a wireless lightgun with accelerometer and gyroscope
it's a different gaming experience compared to the 360's updated graphix

I'd take upgraded graphics and good gameplay over gimmicks with boring bland games anyday.

So far this game is ranked as the #2 game of all time at Gamerankings.

would you buy a 360 just to play it?

I hate shooters on consoles so I bought it for my PC. So far it's definately the best game out this year.
