Yeah, but playoffs would be based on the top 8 teams, as there's no way in bloody hell you could do something like March Madness for football.

So, you go from what, 50+ bowls to 8? I am sure they could still hold other "bowl" games, but with the diversion of interest onto the playoff bowls, I doubt the NCAA could squeeze anywhere near as much money from the corporations for them.

Why would you have to get rid of all the bowls to have a playoff series? Keep the lesser bowls, but allow the top 8 teams to playoff for the National Championship.

Only one or two bowl games matters currently for the National championship, so keep the rest, or better since there wiil be 17 playoff games, allow lesser bowl games to be part of the playoff scenarios. That'll allow them to have better ratings and to be part of the National Championship system.
